Oh great a newbe with a problem. Rc-revo brushles mount flex's?
Well I love the quality of the Rc-motor mount. No flames toward you guys. But I think it flexes or the frame does because your can see the gear seperate front the spur as I gun it (holding in hand of course). Aside you can see the vibration created with the flex which caused the rotor to snape off the little 1/4 hv 4.5 motor. Aside from braking the rotor shaft, I can't be the only one that notices this? Its as if we need something holding the tip end of the shaft in a bearing with the trans? Or bracing the motor mount better to the frame. Anybody?

Are you using the optional Traxxas motor area brace? That helps a lot.

Use that brace that Brian linked to, and make sure you threadlock all the screws. I had the same problem and went through several spur gears despite having the brace installed. I took the entire mount apart and threadlocked everything, including the motor screws. Not a single problem since then.

Thanks guys but that doesn't look like its gonna stop the flex in the mount. I'm so ready to give up on this revo trans setup. It was a good idea when I started, I now wish I went with the e-maxx style. having the motor directly attached to the trans has got to be better hands down.

Believe me it stops the flex. No matter if you're running a nitro engine, RC-Monster direct drive, or Tekno RC's clutch setup, that brace will really stop the gears from seperating. But you really need to upgrade to a 5mm shaft motor, the smaller ones can't take the stress a heavy vehicle puts on it anyway.
Also, if you really don't think that brace will stop it, there are two other options to try. This brace and this brace. Don't give up on it so soon! |
I use the RCM motor mount bolted straight to a stock Revo 3.3 chassis which has the brace. I have zero flex at all, so I think the brace will help.

thanks again for all your help. Look at this it looks like what I want

I had the same problem. I made my own brace but the Traxxas unit works great too.

What motor mount are you using for your BL motor Tekno or RCM?

Ok, $$$ bucks later, and I love this thing. I purchased the 5mm upgrade, 2 Maxamps 7.4v 4000mah and the motor brace. Thanks guys it was worth getting. Also I greased the trans which made a huge different, and swap the rear diff which didn't feel right.
I need a center diff, this thing is so nasty. I can't wait to run my buddy's BB RB 523 Revo which is very fast. Also the stock radio is causing me to glitch once a go passed 50 ft. What radio should I go with? Anybody have a good radio that works great with the Novak HV systems? |
Futaba 3PM FASST 2.4gHz, very, very, very good for about $179.00.

Thanks bro, I notice you have a Brushless Revo also, do you have a center diff in it. Just wondering because I can't control the front end from pulling up. Its really sick to say the least. But I've never talked with anyone that has a center diff in a revo if they work just like a truggy? Would I not wheely as much and I'd be able to go faster right? |
