mm on 5s?
so i was reading about the arming of the new mm on 5s, turn the lvc off? anyone can help me on this, i got that and a 7xl in my revo, i have dual 2s2p 8000's and one maxamps 3s 5000, wondering if i could use one of each, in theoryit should be ok, i have the leads wired in series, so it would be like a 5s 13000, right?

Hey man,
The 7xl is only good up tp 4s, so wire your 8000 packs in series, for 8000 4s. You cannot mix and match battery capacities, so leave the 5000 out. The mm is really only good for 4s, and leave the lvc on too. Check out the 2nd post in this thread: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10531 should help explain the motor deal. |
yea i was just trying to get some insane speed out of it lol, i thought i seen a 7xl on 5s before, must have been, an 8xl, 7xl would go nueclear at that rpm huh?

You could run the 7xl on s for short bursts, but even if you get the MM to run on 5s, the 7xl on 5s will likely draw so much power the mm will not like it very much.

heat up very fast id imagine huh? im waiting for my 24t pinions to get here, then i can go with 24/56 for speed runs, if i get frisky i geuss, just wanted to see what it would do on 5s

Sounds to me like you should get a box ready to send it back to castle if you're going to do that.
The MM runs fine on 5S if you are running the right motor and you are geared properly. 7XL + 5S + 24T = so far away from a good (read: reliable) setup it's not even funny. More than likely when it fails it won't be hot, that's because it'll fail before it gets a chance to get hot. Now, with that said, I'm currently running a 9# emaxx with a 5S1P A123 pack, 10XL, geared 19/66 on a MM. It draws about 85A max. It runs cool, and i'm not worried about blowing anything up. Top speed is probably 28 mph, but that's fine, because: 1) I don't like blowing stuff up. The truck is of no use to me on the bench 2) The MMM will be out very soon, and then I'll let all hell break loose. Right now it's set up to run within the allowable parameters of the ESC and leave me some safety margin. Besides, it's torquey as heck and IMNSHO, using a MT for speed is just silly...if you get it set up properly for speed, it sucks as an off-road vehicle. |
i ran my mm last night with 6s1p a123, just for the fun of it. that is equal voltage to 5cell lipo. i gave it about 5 min. on a feigao 10L motor, all high speed passes and dead stop full throtle stabs. esc was 119f but the motor got upto 150. my settings where left alone from my last setup. timing was at highest, break at 30, punch at 80 and cutoff at i think 10v. i'm sure runing 1p with the a123's is allowing it to run smoothly since they like to drop voltage in 1p configurations.

I would be very careful running the MM on 5s at all!
DickyT fried his MM just plugging in a 5s Lipo and turning it on. Here is his post from his Revo thread: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...&postcount=101 I believe this was with a newer MM though. I heard the older MM's can handle a little higher voltage. |
Hey Tash,
The highest I go with the timing on 6s1p is "normal 10 degrees" in dragracing. "Lowest 0 degrees" for bashing untill the pack dumps. The only "mod", are the 3 additional caps. No fan needed. BTW, I just need to retap my wheel adapters and I'll be able to use off the shelf 3.5" foamies. |
