New Savage XL
I bet the new savage XL can handle alot of brushless power:whip: I'm thinking about buying one and put a Neu 1521, a Castle HV125, and 10s lipo in it:surprised: what do yall think?
|
its gonna be an expensive project lol
|
Is it longer than the FLM Savage conversion kit?
What other upgrades beside it being longer and a bigger motor in it? Is it a different drivtrain? |
On the surface it just looks like an extended savage X, with a few tweaked parts, and some lame axle extensions to widen the wheel base.

YIHAAAA..
Finally... Soon to be available bodies that fit the FLM extended chassis.. I would take an extended FLM chassis with aluminum extended arms over this one any day. |
i wonder which is bigger. the flm chassis with a-arms or this...

No ladies for me, I only sleep with my truck!
Na, Harry Hill (thats him in the picture) has a Tv show, and on every episode he settles an arguement or question of which 2 given items/people/objects are better- by having them fight (imagine a giant chicken vs a giant turky or leg of lamb etc)! |
The Savage XL is about an inch longer than the flm conversion.
|
It's just a savage with some exensions..
Just like Pamela Anderson.. |
Even so, wouldn't u say that it would be plenty of room for a monster motor in it?
|
About the same room as a stock savage! it's nothing more than a standard savage with some extensions..

Actually, the XL has some nice additions that would make it a good brushless conversion. The biggest changes are the super heavy-duty dog bones, twin fiberglass disc brakes, and drive cups as well as the 3-speed transmission. You could probably get good $ on ebay for the 5.9 and the extended chassis to pay for an FLM chassis. You'd end up with a body that fits and nice big tires.
Downsides are the SF-5 servo which isn't much more powerful than a Hitec 645 but that could be used for braking and a 5955 could be used for steering. The upper arms aren't adjustable like the SS, but that's no big deal. If they ever offer it as an SS kit it would be a really good deal. |
I am sure there will be a SS kit in the future, as HPI does this to all their trucks. But thanks for the good info on the XL Savage. If I do a Savage conversion, I'll definitely go that route.
