Its been a couple months since I started this build and this is what I have so far. For bashing, I'm planning to use 2 TrueRC 8000mAh 4S2P in a series and 3 Polyquest 2500mAh 4S1P for drag racing. For the battery trays, I cut out a piece of scratch board ( same material used on clip boards ) and I used counter sunk screws to mount is onto the chassis. I put two layers of mouse pad on top and with the double sided velcros, my batteries dont move at all. I have a piece of .09in carbon fiber that I will replace it later with. I tested out my truck Saturday afternoon in an open parking lot. The first run I used 26 nimh rebuilt radio shack batteries in a series. With 4lbs of battery weight, the truck was riding pretty low. With the ESC I was using, I noticed there is a delay in throttle response at any speed. The front tires pretty much balloned on every speed pass. I radared the truck doing 47mph with 14/46 gearing. The truck is pretty stable at that speed and my turning radius wasnt that great with these wide tires. I have 4 Maxamps 2200mah 3S2P I have used on my mini quake. I wanted to wired all 4 batteries in a series, but my mechanical brakes wasnt working and the parking lot wasnt big enough. So I wired it as 4400mah 6s. I radared it at 35mph and I noticed my acceleration wasnt any much faster. I think the reason is most of the power is going to the front wheels. I have 50k oil in the center diff and I think the front and rear diff has grease in it from the factory. I bought the truck from lincpimp couple months ago, so I dont know if he put any diff oil in it or not. I hope putting 7k oil in the front and 5k oil in the rear will help with the balloning. I hope I get my diff and mechanical brakes fix for the next HAMDRL. I want to see if my lipos would puff up wired as a 12s and how stable my truck will be at that speed.

You may need some 100k oil in the center diff if the front tires are ballooning that much. I did not get a chance to do anything to that truck, so it should still have grease in the front and rear diffs. Heavier oils in those diffs will help if it "diffs out" on one wheel, but will not do much for ballooning.

Nice looking conversion, BTW!

Amazed you could squeeze in the 1515 with the RCM covers at both ends...

Looks "REALLY" tight though - does it rub when you steer? I was thinking a 1512 might be enough and would save 8mm.

Can you tell a weight of your tryggy?
I have also LSP and had done similar setup when I looked on pictures felt some dejavuu :)
But I didnt liked ESC and Weight of truggy
With batteries it weight about 12.6lbs
Now try shave weight to 10.5lbs and go to 4S with MM

Thanks for the compliment Lincpimp. Arct1k, there is about a 5mm gap between the servo saver and and rear motor cover. The wires do not rub at all when I steer. Two of the motor wires are facing inward, so they cleared it fine, and one is sticking upward and it has about 2mm clearance from the servo saver. I weighed the truck without batteries with a home scale 10 times and it says the truck is 8lbs. I didn't think the scale was accurate, so I weighed 10, 20, 25, and 45lbs dumb bells and scale is weighing those correctly. The reason why I went with this esc/motor combo is because both of these were in stock at the same time. I was planning to use mm / 1515 1y, but the 1515 1y was out of stock very quickly when rc-monster got them back in stock. So far, I like this setup. It lets me use 8s or 12s lipo, which i'm planning to use on it.

what tha crap? this is ironic. have i met you at the harmdrl races? i'm sure if you've been recently, you know me. i have the black emaxx, blue lightning stadium 10, and the yellow 1/8th onroad out there. whats ironic is the fact that you are in my region, currently putting a lsp together, plan on drag racing it at track 21, and bought the lsp from lincpimp. those are all also true for me. funny huh!

also a side note, i'm putting a hacker c50 in mine, so it will be nice to see how it compairs to you're nue motor. i'm only going 4s lipo though, and i'm not spining the motor very fast for now. i may later steel the mgm off my maxx and go up to 6s on it though.

Blunten 03.10.2008 11:00 PM

Yeah, you have met me. I'm the guy that radared your Yosa not to long ago.

tashpop 03.11.2008 07:09 AM

okay then. sweet.

tashpop 03.16.2008 10:22 PM

just for the record, this thing is strong. i seen it run today on some very small lipo's, and with the center diff and all, it would do a back flip back onto its tires, and throw the fronts up all the way down the strip. very powerful. if my lsp using the hacker don't start getting close to this power, i may look into the neu motors.

also, for those wondering about the delay and soft start rumer with these oem/turnergy 100a hv esc have, this is proof. i seen most those issure go away on my onroad with this esc after going 12s a123, and now i see it in his truggy.

Hey Blunten, nice setup man. It was just crazy to see all those lipo's lined up on that chassis. Hope you got your tire issue fixed before the next Hamdrl TNT. Did you the vid that Sleebus posted on Hamdrl and BTY?

Blunten 03.17.2008 02:30 AM

I didn't realized it was that strong using 12s. Couple days ago, I used the same batteries but wired each pair in parallel then wired those in a series to make 6s. The front never came off the ground. I tried using 9s when everyone left and my friend came by with tire glue. I was able to stab the throttle and the front picked up from a dead stop and then went down and it pulled pretty hard all the way. I don't think the motor was meant to be used with less than 8s.I just saw the video Sleebus posted. I wish he recorded my truck doing a back flip. I was shocked it even did that. The batteries I used were rated at 30amps btw.

tashpop 03.17.2008 09:24 PM

i had a flip like that in my lightning stadium 10 at the starting line that didn't get caught on camera too. i think doing stuff like that really interests the onlookers into giving more thought into joining up.

It does bring interest. Just don't quit showing up.
