What comes after the e-revo?
 

Hey guys, looking for some suggestions on whats the next step following the e-revo. I've done the rustler/pede/e-maxx/e-revo so I think it probably time to broaden the horizons. I just love the evo I built. I thought the maxx was incredible. The evo is night and day in how good it handles over the maxx. I'm just drooling thinking that there might be something out there that is even better then that. I don't know much about what else is out there. I just found out the ctr (crt) was an OFNA two days ago. That might tell about my difficulty of looking for the next project. So what would you think is the next step up after the e-revo?

Just a basher.

Naturally I'd say an 8th scale. Buggy or Truggy. But since you said strictly bashing, how about a Savage or an LST?

I'd say if you have a track near you, give racing a try. I was a strict basher too, went the same way as you, more or less. But for me, after the revo, came racing... converted 8th scalers. Now bashing lost the thrill for me, my bashers are collecting dust.

It seems to me the next step is an electric truggy. For race or bash, the handling is incredible. I had a Gorillamax G2r Revo that I thought was awesome. The truggy makes it look slow and clumsy.
And yes, RACE! The thrill of racing makes bashing seem boring. I don't blame Dafni for shelving his bashers. Mine are sold.

Well, only Gee can make the call on whether or not to race. I've made the attempt to get into racing, but my local market has no support for the converted truggy/buggy/MT crowd.

Depending on how/where/what your bashing involves, a truggy/buggy could be a really good project for bashing or a really bad one. If you think the low cg, flat chassis might work for your bashing then go for it - and you will also have the added benefit of having a race worthy vehicle in your stable.

Me, I'm in a similar boat looking for another project as a basher. I'm really fighting the urge to go "low 'n slow' with a crawler...

This may be way off, but why not try a brushless, lipo powered boat. I have a few and they are really fun. If not, convert a losi lst. Not many prefab parts made for it at the moment, so it will present more challange to produce a nicely finished conversion.

Thanks all great ideas to think about. I was going to check out the local race scene. Not a real competive person really but looks like fun. It all depend on the reception I guess. If there are a bunch of arrogant veterans that don't even crack a smile while wot. Well count me out. If it's bunch of good guys like this forum I'd do if just for the fun. Everyone here is pretty helpful and really only flame ya when you deserve it. Makes you do some research before you ask a dumb question. Speaking of research was looking at some other of the conversions people have posted. I haven't had a nitro before so I was thinking about getting one and playing with it this summer. Hard to tell the nitro guy how sweet my brushless is with out some experience. Seeing how I have so many of the traxxas it might be a plus parts wise to get a rusty or something. But then It wouldn't be much of a conversion. How about the savage? How does it do out of the box? Would there be a lot needed to get it ready for brushless. Looks to be some conversions for it. Some experienced help and it's a basher. The LST well that's taking lincpimp foreever to do and I'm really not that patient yet. :whistle: Poking some fun at ya. I think I am going to get the aquacraft 27 brushless. How does it do for a brushless RTR. Would the villan be a better boat if converted to brushless?

The OFNA 9.5 Violator has 4 wheel drive. How does it do? Is it a buggy or a truggy? If not a truggy. What truggy would you suggest.

How about a kyosho nitro blizzard. Now that's different and new.

Different and old you mean, surely? those things have been around for donkey's years, but they are alot of fun, especially in the USA where you actually get snow.

I'll add the blizzard to the ones to look into. What about you Neil. What do you think would be a good one to do?

...oh, you mean a conversion. I think a 1/8 vehicle would be the next logical step too, and if you were to think about racing, I would look into what classes your nearest tracks have so you can choose the best option (truggy or buggy). Other than that, you might be getting into the realms of a something entirely different, such as a dragracing setup of some sort, though I can see how that gets boring after a while unless its for less occasional usage.

Personaly, I have been looking at the 1/8 truggies like the HB lightning and thinking how relatively cheap they would be compared to a normal 1/10 truck- about the same size, but much lighter and more raceable/durable it would seem; I fear for my Gmaxx's future....

That sucks was replying with the list of truggies I found and lost the whole thing after hitting the web search button. I'll get the list 1/8 truggies list recompiled again to see what you all would pick.

Yes, it is taking me a while to convert the aftershock to brushless. I has sat for a while, so a little longer will do no harm!

I have a variety of brushless boats, including a supervee. I have had alot of fun with the supervee. Out of the box with some decent 7 cell nimah packs (14 in series) it is a blast. A pir of decent 2s lipos wakes it up a bit, and a octura x642 prop makes it fast, like 42-45mph! That is about all I have done and the boat is alot of fun.

Thanks Linc. I'll get the prop when I get one. Got a friend with a nitro hydroplane. It's big and loud but he's never had in on the water. Mister negative, everytime I talk about a brushless boat . When I showed him a vidoe of the supervee on the net. He was all negative and said it looks small and slow. The look on his face will be worth every penny when he see a 40+.

If you run that prop and a pair of good 2s lipos, say 5000mah 20-25c rated, the sight of it launching out of the water from a standstill will be enough for your boat friend. I ran a x448 prop once and it would launch the boat really hard, too much prop though, I had to mod the rudder just to make it fit. The x642 seems to be most people's choice for the boat. Only issue is that you will have to balance and sharpen the prop if you buy it raw, or pay out the rear to buy an already worked prop. Not really difficult, just tiime consuming.

Check out the offshoreelectrics.com forum and store, they have tons of info about boats, and the store owner, steven is very helpful, sort of like the Mike of brushless boats!
