I'm 29

I turned 29 yesterday. I feel about 20, maybe 21. I just don't wanna grow up. My mind is non stop on r/c! I really wanted an MMM for my birthday, but the release date is pushed back, AGAIN, until april. I've got a couple kids, I've had a few dozen women, and I'm perfectly content alone, playing with my r/c's, sitting back collecting my government cheese. Should I do something with myself? What should I be? I love the different points of view and the intelligent responses on this forum, let me have it! -Harold

He, I just turned 30... still feel like 20 or 18. I consider this a good thing though. Most people guess me at around 23.

What to do? Enjoy life! That's all. I don't want to grow up either.

Keep it up mate, and happy late B-Day

lincpimp 03.14.2008 09:52 AM

Happy belated b-day dude!

Not sure what to tell you. I will be 28 in may, and I own a buisness (auto paint/body shop), plus I am looking for land to build a new house. I am also fixing up my current house, and have a few car projects. All of that ont top of r/c! I have been married for a few years, but have not had any kids yet.

I can say that r/c is a great hobby, and I could most likely fill my time playing and building cars. I do like full size car builds, but they tend to get costly.

I would say that if you are having a good time, stick with it. If you do not want a job, or nothing interests you, give it time. Maybe you could start something part time, like online selling. Just keep it quiet, since you are on disability! It wouild give you something to do, and could help fund your r/c hobby.

Dang.. I just turned 23 (also hoping for a MMM :( ) and now I consider myself to be in the mid 20s... ever since i turned 18 (legal drinkin here in aus) it felt it was all downhill lol... close, but now i work properly i can afford more rc gear :P

bluonyx 03.14.2008 11:17 AM

I'm 32, 2 kids been married for 13 years, own a printing business and just signed the lease to open up our second store yesterday, literaly. I'm a chain! Most people say that when you hit 30 it's all downhill from there but I say no way. I love being a kid still and have been don't RC since I was 15.

If your enjoying what your doing, just roll with it. For me things just seem to happen at just the right time.

Aged

Well I turned 49 in Feb:party:, and I have never felt my age:whistle:. Happy birthday to ya:yipi:. I have been married twice before and finally found a good woman who looks at life pretty much the same way that I do. It has been a rough life for me, but we have to focus on the good parts. We have 8 kids between us. 5 of them are from my previous life. If you look at my other thread "Life changing events" you may have seen that my 2nd wife passed away (35) in Feb (on my b-day), and we are now acquiring custody of my 3 youngest children (9, 11, & 12). Life is much too short to worry about the little things like how old you feel. Enjoy every minute of it, and what God has given to you.

I just started getting into RC a few years ago (thanks to my wife), because I have always been to busy trying to deal with everyday life situations, and keeping my head above water because of the crap my EX's have put me through. I grew up living in the Philidelphia projects and had a pretty crappy childhood as well, but my Mom had always told me to be happy with what the good Lord has provided for me. I never understood that as a young man, but I do now. I am lucky to have what I do, and there are always people out there doing much worse. Focus on the good and learn from every experience Good or Bad. Age is relative, and time keeps marching forward weather we want to grow up or not. Find happiness inside of you, because no matter what other people think of or do to you life just keeps comming at you.

8 kids from ages 9 to 28 and we love every one of them. We hope some day to have our own little piece of property as well, and want our kids and grandkids to come over and have race day family events with my RC toys. For now we travel with the US Government all over the world and try to enjoy every day that we are given, no matter where we may get assigned. Brussels today, Korea tomorrow, and who knows from there. Life is good. Find what makes you happy and stick with it.

Happy Birthday _paralyzed_. I'm 31 married for 6 years and have a 5 year old. I've been into RC since i was 11 and am still loving it. My late 20's and so far early 30's have been the best years of my life. Life is short so do what makes you happy. :mdr:

happy birthday man and good luck, your young and you got alot of life to live,if i were you collecting the goverment cheese i would find something off the books for extra cash for the future, sell stuff on ebay,if you can go to garage sales, buy stuff there and resell it,thats how i pay for this hobby, and by the way i am 42 ,mentally feel 20 and physically feel 50[due to too much powerlifting when i was younger, joints are hurting]but alls good ,later:intello:

Happy birthday dude. Once you hit your twenties everything does feel like a downward spiral sometimes, but that all depends on your overall outlook- everyone has a different point of view & personality. Do whatever makes you happy, and if you can earn money doing it, even better!

_paralyzed_ 03.14.2008 07:53 PM

thanks for all the replies guys, I've been involved in a lot of things, but r/c, and particularly this site has always been so inviting, I'll keep on rolling!

If I were single and in you shoes Harold (since you asked) I would try to do whatever it is that I would like people to know about when I'm gone. For me I would like to leave a legacy of helping families who for no fault of their own end up on hard times, like those successful business' gone in the wake of huricane Katrina. Natural disasters leave lots of responsible good hearted people hurting.

I dream of a piece of propery with 6 homes and a dormatory where I would invite families and individuals to stay for very low rent while they rebuild their lives and provide for their kids. I'd help them out with food and transportation, mabey some tools or schooling. I would take the rent they pay and save it (say $3-500 a month) and when they were ready to leave, I would send them off with enough cash to be able to put a down payment on a new home.

Then if they ever asked me if there were anything they could do to repay me, I would simply tell them to get successful again and go out and do the same thing I had done for some family themselves...

For me today that means working hard to get my auto reapir clientel built up, running a fair business (read honest) and not waisting my time with drugs or bad living. I persue a close personal relationship with God, since it is His dream for me to love Him and love others with all that I am and all that He is in me. I enjoy my friends and I like my RC stuff too. I believe I can accomplish the goal with the housing in the next 5-10 years, and I hope my kids see enough value in it to continue long after I have gone.

When I get get to heaven I just hope to get a "job well done, good and faithful servent".

Wow there are a lot of good responses on here. What more can I add. We all know about Castles release dates and Christmas is coming. Keep your fingers crossed for DEC. I know the secret to life is do what makes you happy. Most people don't get a chance to make them selves happy. They (me included) feel they have to much responsibility. Good Luck with what ever you choose.
