Revo motor mount stripped thread... again
Well, maybe I just have bad luck, but this is the second time the thread in the bottom plate has gotten stripped. The first time, I emailed Mike and he replaced it at no cost.
I used blue locktite on all three screws, but the last time I drove it which was this afternoon, the front plate (what the motor is screwed to) got loose. So I went to tighten it, and the screws just keeps on turning. I haven't tried taking the screws out yet, so it is a possibility that the screws are stripped and not the mount, but I will check for sure tomorrow. Is anyone else experiencing or have experienced this? I also wasn't driving hard at all, just some quick bursts of power and wheelies in the yard. No jumps what-so-ever. I was also wondering if there is some sort of paste available that I can put in the 2 out of the 3 holes that are stripped. I then screw the screws back in, and the paste will harden. Is there something like this available? Thanks for any help in advance. - Josh |
JB weld may work, but I would consult Mike first. I had the screws loosen in mine, and even then it did not damage the mount. Are you over-tightening them?
|
I can not imagine over tightening them. I am just using a XTM hex driver and turning 'till it won't turn. In plastic, I won't go as tight, but metal in metal, I thought it should be really tight, especially in such an important part as the motor mount.
I'll take it apart this afternoon. I really hope that it is not the mount and just the screws... lets hope for the best. |
Hoping for the best is just not enough. It turns out the thread in the motor mount is stripped and not the screws. Guess I have no choice but to contact Mike about this again...
