grinding/popping noise
uhh everytime i brake theres like a popping/grinding noise coming from my E
wuts causing this to happen?! |
Any idea where on the truck it's coming from? Might be a diff or some other gear.....never had a Maxx, so I don't know.
|
My bet is a Diff, probably the front.
Try to spin the wheels and hold the center shaft. Or hold the truck by the rear wheels and try to roll it on its front wheels. YOu should feel it when the diffs are damaged. DAF |
my truck right now is RWD cuz my center shafts broke
is it coming from the rear diff? if it is how i fix it? |
uhh anybody?!?!

Shadow, are you brushless and running a completely tightened slipper?
I had to rebuild the diffs on both maxx's after they started making a "popping" noise...and I couldn't acheive top speed (slippage). I believe this was a result of brushless power, stock slipper tightened all the way down (i.e., no slippage), and a short track w/ lots of on/off the gas throttle action. I replaced a couple gears, shimmed the diffs, and am looking to order either the Strobe or the RRP slippers. Not 100% certain that's your problem, but it sounds similar. |
my slipper aint tightened
wut shims did you use and who makes em?? |
These are made by Traxxas. They're washers you can use to shim the diff ->
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDEA8&P=7 Though when I purchased a couple replacement ring gear parts from the LHS (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSP75&P=ML) the teflon washer came in the "kit." This takes some of the slop out of your diff and shoul yield better gear life. Don't forget the diff grease and oil if you so desire. |
thnx CHUD
ill be getting some of those washers by monday I hope |
