How detrimental are bad wheel bearings?

I mean, obviously bad wheel bearings aren't good...duh. I ask because I've been having this nose dive issue. I've tried everything except replacing the controller.

I knew my bearings (rpm knuckles) weren't in the best shape. Tonight, in a desperate attempt to remove any possible motive for the Revo to have an excuse to nose dive, I replaced the bearings in the knuckles.

So, how bad is bad? These are pretty bad. They're not locked up by any means but they feel the way rotors sound when you're metal on metal.

I'm just wondering since they're not spinning as freely as the beautiful new set in there if they're causing the front axles to momentarily lock up for a split second.

I took the truck outside and beat on it for about 10 minutes and it never nose dived once.

.... not that means much since the last few times I thought I had a cure, I'd drive for 10-15 minutes and think it was fixed.... only to find out the next time I drive I never fixed the problem.

Anyone have issues when they're bearings went bad?

Thanks,

Mark

What esc/radio are you using?

I think you kinda answered your own question. What happens to the handling of a truck on one wheel momentarily locks up...

Bearing are cheap. Just go to Avidrc.com and get new ones. They are a buck a piece. for $8 you can do all 4 wheel axles.

How are your dif beaarings? Bad bearings in there can cause all kinds of weird handleing things too. Not to mention cause alot of drivtrain drag and excess heat in the motor and esc and reduced run time.

That's what I did... I ordered a few dozen from Avid and installed them. It definitely seemed to help. My locking down issue is MUCH rarer than before. I think perhaps a little bit of everything (diff shimming, bearings, etc, etc...) helps.

I still think the majority of my problem is the MGM controller. I'll get the updated firmware and see if that helps.

BTW, I had already replaced all the bearings and lubed the diffs when I changed to the 3905 ring and pinion.
