1/10 Truck Decision - which one to pick

While doing my taxes this year, I came to the sad realization that I have a serious RC addiction.:lol: I think I easily spent over $7500 on RC last year. :surprised:

So....... to continue the addiction I am looking to make my next purchase in the next few months and I would like get a 1/10 scale MT. I don't want to drop a ton of $$ on a conversion, but I realize that regardless of what I get I will still need a BL motor, esc, receiver and probably upgraded servos to replace the stock crap. It seems like the cost difference really only narrows down to the motor mount.

Here's what I am looking at right now:

E-Maxx #3905 (the water resistant one)
E-Savage
HotBodies GT10
HPI MT2 (but it looks a little more truggy that MT)
AE MGT 3.0
Revo 3.3

I'd really appreciate some input on the above list (including ease of a BL conversion).

I'm only looking for about 30 - 35 mph for this one, but I'm not to big on dealing with a 2-speed tranny again (after my LST2).

Does the new E-Maxx really have a stronger tranny to handle a BL motor?

i'm pretty fond of my e-savage, although it took some beefing up to handle brushless well. I like it over my buddy's Emaxx for sure. I like my Revo perhaps a bit better than my esavage though. For me, it's between those two.

If you only want 30-35 though, a stock 3905 emaxx may be the best way to go. All water proof and pretty darn tough. Not too much reason to switch to brushless with the low speed goals since the brushed motors will handle water and muck better.

What beefing up specifically have you needed to do to the e-savage.

I've seen a youtube vid of a BL e-Revo and a stock E-Maxx and there is no comparison.

Hey stampedeproject, what hacker are you using? Is that a c50 maxx or a l can? I am guessing you are running a123, how many?

^ It looks like 8s A123. I can't read the writing on the motor though. Yes, I tried.

Yeah - been a long time since this original post. But I had been holding out and got the E-Revo about a month or so ago now running with a 1515 and MMM on 6S.

Still possibly interested in a mgt3.0, but may want to stay larger scale and go for a 1/5 or 1/6 buggy with a LMT 2250 I just got my hands on - there's another thread somewhere around about that - just not sure if a 2250 on 10S will be able to efficiently push a 25lb truck around.
