Brushless 1/8 buggy conversion

ok well first off what 1/8 nitro buggy can u convert can u convert a hotbodies lightning 2 pro? how hard is it to convert
what motor would u reconment using ( i have a 8s now will it work or what u reconmend ) im assuming its ez just make a motormount and that bout it?

You can convert any buggy, but ideally you want one with an available plastic spur. Therefore the mbx r2 works very well. All you need to do is make the motor mount, mount the batteries, and hook up your electronics. The 8s won't work, you'll need more grunt.

You can use any 1/8 buggy that is out there. The MBX/Ultra buggies do have upgradeable plastic spur gears. But another choice is to do what I used to do, and make a custom center shaft with a spur gear mount, and mount a plastic gear on it. What I have now is a modified Revo slipper clutch with a MGT plastic spur gear on it. Just some thoughts :).

How many cells will you run? You can use any of those motors. The 7XL would run the best. Its kv is also inbetween the 9L and 10L.

TwzteD 08.26.2005 08:07 PM

ill prolly use either 12 or 14 cells what would be the fastest on either?

also what woul i have to do to get a lightning 2 pro to work ?

MetalMan 08.26.2005 10:01 PM

The 10L or 7XL would be good for 12 or 14 cells. Just depends how much power you want.

To get any buggy brushless ready, you need to have a way to mount the motor, batteries, and controller. If the center diff has a steel spur, it is best to somehow get a plastic one.

and the lightning 2 pro dont have plastic rite?

MetalMan 08.27.2005 09:28 AM

I am not sure, but I bet they use steel.

TwzteD 08.27.2005 11:06 AM

and where els can u get plastin other than tower?

Re~Mix 08.27.2005 11:28 AM

Here, you can buy this buggy for $160 shipped as a roller
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DME:L:RTQ:US:1

Trust me, I just passed up buying it. Just email him about it. Then you can buy the $7 plastic ofna spur here from mike, mount your batteries and make your own mount or buy one from coldfusion. There, done in the least amount of money.
