tekno rc clutch problems
So I just got my tekno kit and my Mega ACn 22/30/1 motor the other day. ive run 2 packs through it(3s 5000 and 3s 8000) and my clutch is already shot. whats making it do this? and if i cant change that than what is a good clutch that can handle brushless. up to 4s.
|
It shouldnt wear out that quickly- how do you have the shoes setup (teckno use them backwards dont they?).
|
yes they do. i used mine normal though since i didnt read all the instructions... my spring was stretched way out as well it seemed like. it didnt seem to have the same strength as before.
|
Since you had the shoes setup normally, you may have had an issue due to the motor getting up quite a bit speed and then the clutch snapped out, but the shoes cannot handle that kind of load. Try cleaning the clutch bell with some sandpaper and installing the shoes as tekno recommends. And buy a new spring, that one is shot.
|
yeh i was going to order a new clutch bell and a MIP clutch shoe and spring set. is this a good motor? from the 5 minutes i could let it run it was sickly strong. but im not sure if it was getting full power to the ground. is there a way to not have the clutch? make the shaft and bell one solid piece?
|
You could just buy a long shank pinion from Mega usa and ship the clutch setup.
I have an aveox 2000kv motor (about the size of a feigao L can) in my tekno revo on 5s lipo and the clutch works fine. It got hot on the first run, but I think it was the shoes wearing in to the bell. It works fine now, and I have run it a good bit. |
they claim that the shoe life is extended, but mine melted. then again the yare kind of old... what shoes are you running?

Neu 15151y on 4s
I use the Integy aluminum 3 shoe with no spring ......Works great....gets a little warm when I'm on / off the throttle alot but grabs smooth and firm...about 4 hours so far.....still looks good.... |
Try the M2C aluminium clutch shooe medium one with 1.0 spring.
Or get the M2C 3 shooe conversion kit, come with medium shooe and 3 set of different spring. |
see i used my integy 3 shoe and they slip like crazy. i might try the M2C clutch. got nothing already put so much money into it might as well spend some extra money experimenting. and i do a lot of on off stuff since i mostly drive in relatively small areas. so i need something that wont heat up much and will work fine with that.

So the best thing for you will be tu use the RCM mount with pinion to spru setup.
|
well id be better off just getting the long shank pinion from mega. itll be the same thing only it will cost less right? i mean all the rcm mount will do is move the motor forward. all the shank does is move the gear forward.... right?
|
Yep! But not sure if the long pinion will be long enough to meet the spur gear.
And on the long shank pinion, they've two lock screw, and i'am sure that one of this both screw can't be tight on the motor shaft. |
using the RCM mount will bring the whole motor closer to the spur and reduces the stress on the front motor bearing by having the gear closer in on the motor shaft.
|
the motor shaft is long and is actually close to the spur already. so the long shank will fit. and i should only have to tighten one screw with it and it would stay on.... so this clutch thing. tekno is saying just take the springs off altogether so its constantly holdin. would that make anything heat up more?
