1521 vs. 1527
hi everyone,
I think i'm going to get a Neu motor for my brushless UeG-maxx project. I've narrowed it down to the 1521/1.5D (1900kv), or the 1527/1.5D (1500kv). I'm planning on running 6s, and was just wondering which would be the better option. Would I be right in saying that 6s would not be enough to run the 1527 to its potential? I'm going for all out power and insanity :yipi:, so if anyone has advice on which motor would do the job better, please fell free to chime in thanks in advance jordan |
check out my muggy im running 6s on a neu 1521/1y it did 57mph easy. check out the pics and the vid. i was think of try a 1527 in it glad i didnt the 1521 is plenty enough power the truck is crazy.

Yes, I would go with the 1521/1Y on 6S. I have since went to 5S.

I am running a 1521 1.5D on a 3905 emaxx on 6S its stupid, on 8S its super dumb and on 10S its worthless......choose wisely.

Yes, apparently higher voltage will quickly depreciate the value of your driving experience...
The 1521 will be plenty, unless you're a fan of broken drivetrain components. |

If i was to run a 1527/1D (2300kv) on 6s, would that provide enough voltage, or would the amp load start to heat up the ESC?? thanks jordan |
What kind of esc are your going to use?
|
hmmm... you know, i haven't put too much thought into that. At the moment it will be the MMM or the Quark SSB-mk03. Both seem pretty capable controllers from the specs that have been released to the public so far.

I doubt any of the quark esc's out at the moment will be able to handle a motor that size and kv on 6s. You could get lucky, but personally I'd try and get a bigger esc for that much power.
Not sure how my quark 125 compares to the new quarks, it does ok on 6s with a 1700kv 1515, though adding another 600kv and 30mm of motor is a big jump. A guy at my track racing a truggy on 4s and plettenburg maxximum burnt out his SSB-mk03 during practice, but I'm not sure of the details of how it happened. |

maybe i should let others try out that ESC before i make a desicion on it . Well then, looks like the MMM... if its ever released... what 'bigger' controllers are there, are you saying something like the MGM 16024? How would a plane ESC go, such as one of the Castle Phoenix's, upto 12s lipo!! What would the truck be lacking though? It wouldn't have brakes or reverse with a plane ESC would it? I think I'd definately want to wait for the MMM before trying to fit a plane esc to my truck though... jordan |
Don't go with the 1527. I have a 1527/1.5Y, but I'm actually not going to use it yet because the 1521/1Y already provides a ton of power. One powerfull controller would be the MGM 22418.

How are you liking that 1527 Lutach... Did Mike order that for you?.. I'm looking for 2x 1527/2.5D.

How would a 1527/1D (2300kv) on 6s compare to that dual Pletty setup of hcr21, oh sorry, plettenbergs  My drivetrain setup is pretty much the same to that, so i guess the weakest link would be the output shaft. |
