Crt conversion
Next project!
So I found a smoking deal on a used crt rtr with some pro hopups. Going to use a neuenergy 6s 3900 20c battery with a kb 45 8xl and a quark 125b. Now my question is about gearing. The crt comes with buggy ratio diffs (43/13) and a 62t steel spur. Now I also have a pair of hb truggy diff gear sets, 43/10 ratio. I would also like to use a kyosho 46t plastic spur, as my pinion selection for the 6mm KB shaft are all not hardened. So I was wondering if the hb gears will fit on the jammin diff cups and internals? I know they will fit the hyper series stuff, and the jammin parts appear to be identical. I do have enough parts to make up complete diffs with kyosho cups and hb gears/internals. I will have to make the motor mount for the KB, and would like to finalize my gearing before I do that. |
Forgot to add that I will be using mech brakes, and the 125 quark is the air version, so it will be forward only. I figured that it should handle 6s lipo without having to handle braking duties. Brake servo will be custom mounted sideways, and the motor will still on the radio tray side. That will leave the other side of the truck for the esc and battery tray.

Looked at this truck more, and decided to do a custom rear bake setup, much like the new hyper9 buggy. It would place the rear brake disk on the rear diff pinion cup, and a brake pad holder would sit right in front of that cup. The holder would have a hole to let the dogbone pass through, and also have the brake lever conventionally mounted on the top. A single, long linkage would connect the front and rear brake levers, and the servo would be positioned right behind the steering servo, between it and the front center diff bulkhead.
I am doing this because the motor will be in the way of the rear brake disk if it is left on the rear center diff bulkhead. Plus I think it will be cool looking, and different! |
CRT's I thought lent themselves to a rotated center diff and twin packs at the back - have you considered that?

I was going to do that, but got a sweet deal on a 6s neuenergy lipo. I will put the battery tray on the tank side, toward the front, and put the esc behind it. Motor and servos will be on the other side to balance it all out.
