I bought a 5000 2s about 8 months ago , and am thinking on buying another one for my conversion. Is this ok to do. Im trying to keep my converson light and small. Some people say you can get 20 hard min from a mm esc and a 8xl. I would go for the 6000s but i dont think they will fit in my next car (hyper 9)

Will you be using them in parallel or series? Best to always buy packs at the same time so they come from the same batch, if they will be used together.

Do you mean maxamps lipos? If so buy a pair of trakpower packs, or a single flightpower 5000 4s, or a neuenergy 5000 4s. Those batteries will be able to keep up with the 8xl. The 6000 maxamps packs are not good for their rated specs. I had them and they are only good for spin starts, or low draw setups. Sounds harsh but that is what I found.

Yeah they are maxxamps. Why is this, is it because they are 20c and not 25c. the flightpower packs look nice. Are the maxamps 5000s good for there amp rating?

From my experience all of the maxamps packs are overrated. They also drop voltage quite a bit under load. For a 4s setup good bateries are a must. And considering maxamps prices, the trakpower packs are only 10 bucks each more expensive. Plus you can usually find a coupon on tower hobbies to give you 20bucks or so off. So the price difference is really not there.

I'm with you linc... I have had one set of MaxAmps and they were no where near as good as the Enerland based packs. As a Matter of fact I feel like my 10C and 15C TrueRC packs were better than the Max Amps I had. The best thing about MaxAmps is their marketing.

If you want cheap the Zippy 5000mah 20C packs on UnitedHobbies.com are holding up decent for me. As good as the Max Amps and way cheaper. If not go with one of the other packs recomended by others above..

EDIT: With regard to your first question... I wouldnt mix. If one stronger than the other you will over discharge the weaker pack and ruin it. You are better off with a matched set purchased at the same time.

Ok I was looking at the flight power packs and they look really good. They are aalmost the same price as maxamps and they are rated at 125 amps. so 210$ for lipos 450-550 for a hyper 9 another 700$ in a hole :lol:

Enerland and Kokam base batteries are excellent quality.... I love battery graphs.. enerland makes battery performance graphs available for every size/voltage battery pack they make...

I can just see the maxamps guys waking up in cold sweats. Can you imagine what a comparison graph would look like! No one would bother with MA after that!

Flightpower do not even need to advertise with people like us online!

:mdr:Well, they have marketing power... that's all it takes.... kinda sucks, but what can you do... their packs are good, just not that great if compared to other packs... :) I would buy their packs, if it was 40% cheaper..

I actually signed up my lhs and helped them buy the required amount of lipos to get the 20% discount. That was a waste of time, and money. Well, I ended up not losing money on my lipos when I sold them, mainly as I got all of the returned lipos that puffed. I made a few packs up and sold them used at the lhs. Then I bought some enerland cell based packs and have not looked back!

Crazy isn't it ? I have an 10c 8000mAh 4s from Truerc that stomps all over my 4s 5000mAh Maxamps, which is supposed to be 20c.

What balancing plug is on the flight power pack and enrland packs?

Flightpower uses Thunder Power plugs, not sure about the others.

The PolyQuest packs use the Hyperion balance connector.
