Brushless Losi LST2
 

have asked questions over at LSTForums and it was suggested I may get some better answers here.

Looking to make my LST2 brushless for relatively cheap money. Just going to be bashing around my house.

I will probably go with turnigy 100amp esc and FD motor mount. RC monster pinion adapter. As for motor, will most likely go with one of the FEIGAO XL motors.

I am planning at this point to use 6S to alleviate high amp draw. my main concerns are how will the truck perform when jumping and climbing up steps and such with the heavy 6s packs? Initially I will probably use 6s 4900mah flightpower packs because I have them for my trex 600 heli that I don't really have time to fly.

So assuming the 6s will not be a problem for climbing steps and jumping, which XL motor would I use? I have heard that 10XL should be good, but with the stock gearing on this truck, is that the best bet or should I maybe go 11XL?

go with the 12XL... it runs nice on 6S..

won't 12xl be too slow? I believe thats under the 35K rpm that some other thread said the feigao should run at.

Will the 6s battery be okay for climbing and jumping, or will it be too heavy?

If you set up the suspension correctly, 6s will be fine for jumping, climbing, etc. The 12XL will run the coolest of all the other XL motors you mentioned and you can just gear up to make up for the lost speed from the lower KV motor.

I'm only going to be using the stock gearing on the LST.

Gears are cheap and easy. You will want to change gearing at some point anyway, so you can get the 12xl and 6s, and then if you find the top speed lacking, purchase a larger pinion.

I suppose you may want to get the 10XL then?

Either the 10 or the 9XL will give you the speed you want with stock gearing. The 12XL will perform even better, though ( less heating, ampdraw, more runtime and higher effeciency).

Will that 12xl on 6s be as fast as the stock nitro truck?

alot of guys are running 8xl's on 4s with the lst, will the 12xl on 6s be as fast as that?

Stock gearing with that LST will still be faster than the stock Nitro.. :)
you'll be guaranteed that you'll get the 30Krpms from the 12XL...
8Xl on 4S will get you the same kind of RPMS as 12Xl on 6S....

Would running a 12XL on 6S give you longer run times and stay just as cool?

yes because there is less amp draw.

a 10xl or 11xl would work on 6s as well with stock gearing right? Just going to get hotter?

if you use a very good and efficient motor, you really wouldn't need the high voltage, unless you want some insane power...

I already have a couple of 6s packs, plus the lower amps makes for a cheaper esc.
