9XL still the best bet?
Hello,
Is the Feigao/Wanderer 9XL still the best bet for an inexpensive e-Revo motor? (planning on using that as a first motor for the upcoming MMM) I've also heard that Feigao has been upgrading their 9XL, and that some of the new ones shipped are different/better. Any firm news on that? Thanks Loa |
what batteries will you be running?

Two 2s 8000 from TrueRC.

the 9XL has a KV rating of 1853 and that would give you a total of 27,424, a little on the low side, going to a 8XL would give you 30,843...I would go with 8XL unless you can increase your voltage to a 5 cell. |
I have not heard about any improvements as of yet to verify that, but I would say they are decent motors.

The only improvement I know of is the indentions in the can to secure the endbell better.
I've ran both 9xl and 8xl on 4s in my e-revo. I like the 9xl much better. J. |
Thanks for the comments guys.
83gt: can you be more specific as to why you prefer the 9XL? Loa |
I'd stick with the 9xl as well. I have both the 9xl and 8xl, and my revo seems to be happier with the lower kv. The 8xl was very sensitive to gearing and would always thermal after about 8-9 minutes of bashing.

I have three MM 9XL 4s setups - pretty safe compromise...

If you're going to keep the 2 speed you may want to look into getting the 11L or 12L fiegao's, about 20-30 bucks cheaper and still plenty powerful. 11L is a bit fast though, so probably the 12L. I'm currently running the 11L in my Losi 8ight and it's a beast.

Cool, thanks for the info.
Guess it'll be a 9XL. Now, if only the MMM can get out! ;-) Loa |
Here's the link where I first saw a supposedly updated version of the 9XL
