5s vid , Q..how do i lower the heat?
i ran my xt8 on 5s today with my repaired 9xl and mm, but it ran hot, the esc. got up to 250* and the motor hit 150* in about 5 min.
what i did to change things from that set-up was....... 1. changed from 14/46 to 13/48 ( geared for 35mph) 2. took off my basher tires which are heavy and about .5 in. taller and went to a set of lighter race tires which may have less traction then the badlands in grass  3. went from 30k in the center diff to 10k for more unloading  now i plan on running this tommorow and will post any changes in temps. also my start power is low, timing lowest and punch is @ 50% , 5s has way less cogging for me then what i had at 4s for some reason thanks for any help and here is a vid of my 5s run, still no wheelies even with 30k in the center?? VID....... http://s170.photobucket.com/player.s...fs=1&os=1&ap=1 |
Going to say that the lighter center diff oil is letting the motor spin up too fast, and basically unloaded. That can cause high motor temps. I noticed the same problem with my savage. The slipper was set too lose.
The motor may be the issue here, you said that you repaired it? How? |
i had 30k in the vid, i just changed it tonight to 10k when i changed my spur
for my motor i used loctite epoxy to reglue it to the shaft, it worked great and the motor still spins as it did before , but it may be part of the problem:neutral: |

that could be, i posted a few days ago and didnt get any info on which way the magnet should be on the shaft, i had a line on it , but it got worn off in handleing it so i didnt have that as a referance, but i glued it as best as i could so that the poles were fighting each other, i did a search and found a post where serum said the lines should line up, which was in the position where they fought each other when i pushed them together..............i may have been off on this but i thought it needed to be glued in the direction where they were fighting each other, like 180* out of rotation, instead of where they were stuck together(attracted to each other)
if i did it wrong that would explain why it was a p.i.t.a. to do, and if so how do i debond it?? acetone?? |

find yourself a bashing spot that doesnt have any tree's, you will have a lot more fun with your rig....it will give you a chance to open it up.....:yipi: |
temps were better doing speed runs, esc. 185 and motor @ 185, speed est. 40 mph, but bashing when the v was highest was hot, the esc. got up to 265 and the motor was 160, not good enough to rely on for racing, back to 4s i suppose
would gearing down help at`all? i am at 13/48 and i could get rid of the mech. brakes and go to like 11/48 as a side note, i think i puffed another m.a. 5k today:whistle: |
