Looking for someone with a Hyperion Charger
Hello,
Just got a Hyperion Charger (the small 0606i AC/DC). I've read the manual all the way through and it's pretty simple and straightforward. 1 thing I can't find: can I set the min/max voltage for discharging or charging a LiPo?? I let it charge my 2 LiPo batteries (2s 8000) one at a time, until they got to 8.4v, which is supposed to be the maximum. But the charger didn't stop. Does anyone know its cut-off point? Can I set/change it?? Thanks Loa |
It can go over, mine always does. As far as the discharging, I only have used it on mine a few times and can't remember how.

Thanks.
But where does it stop? And how high do you let it go? Loa |
It will stop a 4.2 / cell - it just changes mode at that point and goes constant voltage - It also could be just finishing off balancing...
No worries the hyperion chargers are great... I have 3 - 606ac/dc and 2 of the new 5idp |
Ok, I'm charging a pack right now, I'll see when/if it stops at 8.4 volts.

It won't stop straight away but leave it and it will be fine. These chargers give a constant current charge rate at 75% the cell capacity until the pack voltage reaches 3.6 volts per cell. This charges the pack to about 80% of total capacity. At this point the charger switches to a constant voltage charge rate of 3.6 volts per cell to top off the battery. To charge a fully depleted pack typically takes about one and a half hours.
Press the left hand button once charging and you can scroll through the settings including input/output voltage and individual cell voltages. ATB. |
Thanks.
It's indeed holding steady at 4.22V and 4.21V. It's not hot right now, but should I expect a little heat before it ends, like with NiMH cells? Thanks Loa |

Nothing noticable - I always charge in a lipo sack though
|
Thanks
It didn't get warm at all. I don't have a lipo sack, but I'm in the basement on the concrete, away from anything that could burn. Loa |
u dont want heat when charging a lipo, it will be fine with a hyperion dont worry about it :)

another point is if yur pack is way out of balance ( llike from another changer or not balancing) the charge will take forever cause it is trying to balance the pack.
