Hot, Hot, Hot

What motors do you recommend for a 5S Revo?

I currently have a 8xl, but it is heating up way to much. I;m looking for something in the $80 dollar price range but I may be convinced to go higher.

Right now it just sorta sits there and cogs and if I accelerate really slowly it works a little bit, but not very well.

No matter what, the Feigao-level motors are gonna get hot after a while. They aren't as efficient, and that translates to higher heat levels. However, for 5s, I would go with a 9XL or 10XL.

Off the top of my head, try lower gearing, and I agree totally with Brian. 8xl will pretty much run hot on 5s not matter what. a 9xl or 10xl would be a much better choice.

Align 600XL might be worth a shot

Just tried it with no load and it got surprisingly hot just in my hand. Would I be able to get something significantly better for around 150? I'm not quite ready to drop 300 on a motor, but I would spend a little extra for a cooler more efficient one.

if the set up cogs either your battery is not up to the task, or if your running a MM esc you could use a software upgrade if you dont already use version 1.17.

It'll do that because it is totally unloaded and these motors WILL heat up when run unloaded...

Lets see, 150 bucks for a decent 5s motor?

Well you could get a mega, 22/35/2, that one is around 1500kv. Rpm will be a bit low, a 2000kv motor would be best IMO.

Or try out the new Medusa afterburner v2 motor, the 36/60/2000, or the 36/60/1600 look good. I have the 36/60/1500 to run on 6s, just have not had a chance to install it yet.

The align 600xl is a good motor, but it does not have the same pep that a true inrunner does. That being said it makes plenty of power and is reasonably effecient.

36/60/2000 is outta stock

How about a 9xl with heatsink - happen to have one for sale :) LOL
