How do I set up my electronics for front mech. brakes and brakes w/ the mm esc

Not sure how to set up mech. brakes and still use small amt. of brakes w/ the esc. I think that I need to use ch. 3 on my receiver for the mech. brake servo and then do I split the esc lead with the brake servo?

Not sure..any help will be appreciated.

thanks!!!

normally folks do one or the other. I can see too many complications trying to use both. Mechanical brakes should be plenty strong enough without any help from the motor for braking.

If you really must, then yes. Hook the brake servo to channel 3, and set the ESC to the brake amount you want. You shouldn't have to "split" anything. Channel three just runs straight to the brake servo. the ESC will be on channel 2 and the motor will get it's braking signal from the ESC. I imagine this would work for forward only, with no reverse.

I would just do the mechanical braking... it works great.. and saves and lot of work for the esc

you will have to mix the 3rd channel into the brake function, set-up the esc. for no reverse and dial in more or less brake to achieve bias, and possibly increase or decrease the brake on the esc.

I was talking about this setup in another thread where david was having troubles fitting the rear brake rotor due to motor clearance issues. I would think this setup would work well. It may take a while to get right though. The esc wouldn't get worked that hard either as it would really only be braking the rear wheels and they do less then half the braking anyway.

And What 83gt and entjoles said is how to do it. Mix the brake on your radio with the 3rd channel and plug the brake servo into that. Make sure you disable reverse as well.
