what kind of speed do you get on 5s a123? i am looking at using that same setup with the mmm when it comes out.

Well with my gearing/motor top speed is 25 mph. Looks faster than that, but that's all she's got. I'm using that low kv motor because I'm testing it out for another guy, otherwise I'd be using my 10XL (1668kv). That would put the speed around 33 mph. However, I'm not sure if I want to push the MM that hard, although I've heard other folks have success with it.

If you are going to go MMM, and I see you have a FLM chassis, I'd go 6S. A 6S flat pack fits right across the back there with no problem. Higher voltage is always better, and just gear down to drop the speed. Everything will run cooler too. I wouldn't even think of 5S given your setup. :)

Sounds like my setup. I use 3s x 2 A123 packs to make a 6s pack. 10 min charge times 15 min runs. with a BKWarrior and 9xl. I am happy with performance.

The 3s packs work great in my combat airplane also :)

I don't think a 10xl would be pushing the mamba too hard. In fact that might be sort of a light load. I am running my 10+ lbs truck on a 9xl motor and a mamba max. I do have a fan on the mamba but it never gets over 120 now. Nice run area makes me want keep my truck!

Thanks for the comments guys! :intello:

This is the emaxx I've been planning for a while, and this was the first real beating of it. :yipi: Once the MMM comes out, it will be running 6S and 10XL 22/66. I have another 6S pack, so I can experiment with 6S2P if I want.

I'm going to put the 10XL back in and gear it 19/66. That's still pretty conservative, I don't want to blow out the MM any faster than I have to. Won't be long tho until I can let it all hang out.

I gotta say that build is tough as nails. For those of you who don't remember the build, It's a FLM chassis, but the rest of it is:

GARC 7075 bulks, diff cases and Ti skids frt/rear
Nova RC 7075 diff cups
Flextec arms
Traxxas Big bore shocks
UE Knucklehead towers

The idea was to make it bulletproof as much as possible. After a bunch of 10'+ landings (maybe I should say "landings") it was completely unscathed. The motor separation was another issue.
