My BLST Conversion.
4 Attachment(s)
Hey guy's,
I finally got some pics of my BLST (Brushless Losi Super Truck, for the uninitiated.) & still have to wait for my ESC Quark SSB & gotta get off my arse & get this motor mount made up. Got the battery tray in, the heatsink & clutch adapter for the motor. I have pics, just hope they turned out. |

So are you still using the clutch or are the shoes locked?
What are you doing for a motor mount? |
You mustn't be wearing your glasses today.
Read what I wrote & look at the pics. I have included the design for my mount & you can see that I have the entire clutchbell & clutch assembly attached to the Feigao in the 3rd pic. Also, if you look at the 2nd pic in the first post you will see that the clutch shoes are intact & so are the springs. This set up will save the motor from sudden stops from 50,000 RPM as I have NO intention of loosening the slipper. The mount is a custom design by me & needs to be machined. I have the aluminium here, just lazy. Are you building one of these or just asking questions for the sake of it? |
looks good dude.. but aren't you worried that the clutch bell is so far from the shaft.. it could be putting a lot of strain on the 5mm Feigao shaft & bearing.. other than that, it looks awesome... !

Looks good! What chassis CF top plate is that (mfg)?

The motor mount will fill that space between the clutchbell & faceplate. The clutch adapter covers 10mm of the shaft. Seeing that you just mentioned about the support, I might press fit a bearing into the frontplate of the mount.
The whole truck is carbon, from the top plates under the shock towers to the plate behind the bulkheads & also the skid plates underneath. I've got alot of pics of it. I actually saw Holeshot Engineering's design & asked if it could be modded & he agreed. So, I sent him my design & he made it for me. He also sold alot of them too. It's not much lighter than the original alloy, but, it is much more rigid. The truck should weigh in at approx 5.3kg, sorry, I only know metric. The original LST 2 is a porky 5.8kg. So, I guess half a kg weightloss is better than a kick in the arse. The attached pics are of my LST when it was being built as a nitro. |

Nice work here. I like it a lot. Great job!
|
Thanks.
Just ordered 2 MMM's. I also have a Quark SSB on order. I guess if I get screwed around by my Quark supplier I can always use the MMM's. Also changing to 18.5v 6000mah batt's. |
Damn, coming along very nice

Well, as promised here are some pics of my Quark SSB Mk III.
The nicely presented box. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...f/Inthebox.jpg Hand held controller for adjustments at the track. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...Controller.jpg Oh baby!! Need I say more? http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...uff/TheESC.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...mmmmniiice.jpg Power pack http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1.../Powerpack.jpg ESC fan http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pingitcool.jpg & a bit of gratuitous advertising. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...dvertising.jpg |
Oh I forgot to mention that the two Mamba Monster Max ESC's I ordered have been sent.
I got the email today. Plus my buggy & truggy conversions are on their way too. Anyone know where I can get some decent 18.5v 6000mAh packs similar dimensions to the Maxamps but without the price tag? |
post some pics of your motor mount when you finish it.
I'm in the process, a very slow process, of building up a bl aftershock. I have a MMM on the way, but still need a motor and motor mount. |

I've got a serious medical condition & have been a bit busy to get to the engineering place that's going to machine it for me. There is a pic of my design. It's more suited to a Feigao motor & the clutch adapter is a custom job too. Check out the Revo conversion from Tekno & you'll see their clutch adapter. Mine's virtually identical except with a few changes here & there. |
