Sluggish Diff
 

Just installed new diff - FLM cups and gears, Integy Diff Cases, stock spiders

After carefully assembling and shimming, using 5K oil in the cup, Traxxas grease on the ring and pinion, the gears seem sluggish and do not rotate as easily as the heavily used stock diff. I have no binding (except for 1 tight spot in 1 diff) and have shimmed carefully leaving almost no play.

Will this loosen up after a few runs?
Will it affect performance?

Experienced input appreciated.................

Well, the diff oil is what slowed the diff action. The FLM cups aren't sealed, though, so when the oil leaks out, the diff will free up quite a bit. :)

It's the drivetrain to the diff, it seems tighter than the used stock diffs. (Not referring to the actual slip)

When the oil leaks out of the FLM diff cup, will it put more bind on the drivetrain? (ring and pinion mesh or add resistance to the bearings)

The leaking oil won't cause any more overall drag. Are you saying the ring/pinion mesh has more drag?

Exactly! It spins easily w/ fingers but does not spin as freely (as well as continue to spin) as the stockers.

Note: I have not run my truck yet w/ these diffs

If there is no binding, they may just need a little break in. You should be all set to go.
