Savage + 6s + KB45 8XL = Total un-useable insanity....
 

Here is my setup...
Extended 14lbs+ savage locked in 2nd gear.
Turnigy HV esc
Zippy-H 6s 4000mah 20-30c
20 tooth pinion
48T steel spur gear
KB45 8XL 1700kv

I ran this setup last nite for around 5 min and the batteries didnt get above 80F and the motor was barely at 100F but I couldnt really use anything more than 1/2 throttle. The kb45 motor is just waaaaay too much power, I can wheelie on 1/4 to 1/2 throttle all the way down the street.

Punching it to full throttle results in a back flip instantly that almost gets it back on to its wheelies without the body hitting the ground. Yeah I have a wheelie bar but it actually misses it because it does back flips on full throttle.

What can I do to tame this thing down? I would have to mill a longer slot in my motor mount to put a bigger pinion on, but it is possible. I have a mamba monster coming inbound maybe that will have software on it to tame this motor setup down? Any other ideas????

To be honest my old setup of 4s + feigao 7XL was plenty fast, I want something around the same speed maybe a little faster but with the effieciency that I am getting with 6s now.

Some things you can do is dial back the timing to low, and swap to 5S. That will help,or re-gear a little higher to cut some torque out.

man with that thing you will probably gear up and have even more torque!

Lunch time run update....

I changed some settings on the turnigy HV esc to super soft start and low timing. Its still rediculous though but sort of driveable if I ease into the throttle I can now use full throttle. Although I think I need new brakes or something because this little sucker is fast and hard to slow down.

It still wheelies like mad but if I practice some throttle control I can catch it before it back flips beyond the wheelie bar. I think if I geared up to a 25 tooth pinion it would make it much more driveable.

becarefull of upping your gearing and voltage.... that Motor can easily spike over 150A..

That motor is a big boy.....my buddy is putting one on his MGT on 10S. Should be another 65-70mph truck here shortly.

I bet my savage could do 60mph on just a 6s setup, the thing is crazy fast.

You'd be suprised how hard it is to get to 60mph. Looks can be very deceiving.

It's not easy.. since you have the Turnigy ESC, get the KB-17XL-700KV, and up it to 12S.. . that's what I'm running.. it is just so powerful at any speed... stays fairly cool as well...

BOOGIE.. you're pumping out about 1800Watts... Juice it up man... on 12S and a 700Kv motor, you'll have some serious power...

Then you can compete with JzeMaxx over there.. :)

50mph is all I really need, to be honest I am thinking about sticking a feigao 11XL in there to tame the beast down a little. I am sticking with 6s as this will be a racing truck not a speed run vehicle.

Anything past 50mph with a 1/8 MT is just asking for either broken parts or other issues. But hey your talking to the guys here on RCM were overkill is not an option.

No such thing as to much power..... Lutach, BrianG and Aqwut probably agree with me.....lol

I agree with you also JZ but their is limitations but they are very stretched so you will rarely ever run into them if setup properly. The sky's really the limit.

You don't really need the power... but it's nice to have it on demand....
Boogie.... if you do 6S and the 1200KV KB45 motor, it would run cool... and not draw too many amps..
