mamba on 4 cells
hey guys. i have a rustler and im running the sidewinder in it. and i have a 2 cell lipo and 2x7cell nimh. and i have 2 extra nimh cells just sitting around. i was going to put them on one of the 7 cells to make 9 cells for a total of 10.8 volts. but i was thinking since the motor (5700) can handle 12cells nimh and thats a total of 14.4 volts. would it be able to handle a 4 cell lipo. with a bec just in case lol.
just wanted to know. thanks. if it can i was just going to get one more 2 cell since they are cheap at my job and put them together and make a 4 cell. and see what it can do. |
I would not run the 5700 for extened periods of time with tall gearing, but I am sure it will be fine with decent gearing. Most feel that with anything over 6 cell nimh or 2s lipo the mm will benifit from the internal bec disadled and a external one employed.

well yah i was going to run the external bec. but was just wondering if it could handle a 4 cell. most likely i would not run it for that long. but just a few mins. just to show it off . reason why i would buy a second 2 cell. that way in the long run i can have 2 batterys.

oh btw my gearing right now is 86/20 and running great.

I'm not sure I would push a sidewinder to 4s. You can give it a shot, carefully, and let us know if it works. The motor would be ok for short runs with cool down time in between, but I'm not sure on the sidewinder.

ok i might try it later on. we shall see what happeneds. just got to get a bec frist. we are out of stock at it at work right now.
|
esc can handle 4s with external bec, the motor can't. 12cells nimh is closer to 3s lipo performance wise and 4s is a totally different story.
|
but i thought that 12 cells was 14.4 volts and a 4 cell is 14.8 volts.

the motor @ 4s will be turning 84k and you will fry that motor , be sure to have a video camera close by when you do this..... :-0
|
4S is no problem, but you will need to disable the internal BEC for sure.
I run 5S A123 with no problems. |
