mamba max esc and neu energy lipos

hi, i wanted to try my 2s 5000 neu energy lipos on my friends mamba max esc. the problem is , he doesnt have the software cd or cable link. will i still be able to run my lipos on his esc? does the esc have a lvc default or do i need to program it somehow? and will the esc recognize that its a 2 or 3s lipo?
my friend misplaced his instructions and hes been only running on nimh batteries.
i want to know these things before i let him use my lipos , i dont want to ruin them.

thanks for your help

I would not do it without correctly programming the esc first. You may be able to do the programming with the radio, look on cc website for the manual.

I just saw the original post

you can use a standard USB cable for the MM, and you can download the SW from CCs site
