Evo Racing Report

Well i raced my EVO for the first time saturday. My setup was a EVO with a 9L, and 14 GP3300"s, warrior 9920, 12 / 51 gear and strobe slipper, with panther pythhons & crime fighters. I qualified 8th for the a main the truck is just sick fast LOL!!!. It handeld awsome i put 70w oil in all 4 shocks, orange spr in fr, & gold spr in rr, & p2 rockers with rods in middle holes. In the 15 min A main at the 12 min mark my steering servo broke, i was using a hitec 9925 digital servo. I could'nt belive the runtime i got at 12 minuites the truck was still pulling wheelies, i still had batteries left when the servo broke. The CF is a awsome tire, & the pythons were good as well, the track starred out dry then got loamy.

Too bad about the servo. Any idea why it died? Any binding in the steering?

Good to hear you liked the trucks handling! And thanks for sharing.

I'm thinking because it"s digtal, i here they are a little more sensitive. It might have been under powered it was a 130oz of torque at .08 response time. I was using the stiffer servo saver spring, or i may have just taken a good hit who knows . By the way if your looking for a good set of racing tires the CRIME FIGHTERS with trimmed racers edge foams are awsome.

Dafni 09.11.2005 04:47 PM

I would like to get the CF 40s'. On panther foams, I think.

rchippie 09.11.2005 04:51 PM

I thought about them as well, i had a set of the panther green foams they are really stiff maybe to stiff. They would diffentlly last the life of the tire.

squeeforever 09.11.2005 05:08 PM

what about the responses?

rchippie 09.11.2005 07:07 PM

Hi squee whats up !!!

I dont have the response tires but i hear there awsome. I also hear they dont last that long & can rip eaisily.

squeeforever 09.11.2005 08:55 PM

thats what i was afraid of. so whats the best way to go for all around? i think ima put them on the commandos so i can get new tires and not have to buy rims.

rchippie 09.11.2005 10:39 PM

The response tires wont fit the commando rim . That rim is 40 series & the response tire if for the revo rim which is alot narrower. If you want that rim the proline bowtie is good for racing and some bashing. If you wait about a month proline is coming out with a 40 series CRIME FIGHTER. Which is awsome for racing. If you want a tire for bashing someone else will have to give you a recomindation. Is"nt the commando a beadlock rim ?.

12 Mins! It's funny, just when I think I've got my stuff all hooked up right I read a post like that and am again convinced there is something wrong with my setup. If I go 6.5 mins, the motor gets so hot that it starts to loose power - not a little but massive drop in perfromance, I pull off. I don't think I've ever (in any weather) made more than 7 mins without something bad happeneing. More power to you...

coolhandcountry 09.12.2005 08:44 AM

Where were you running when you broke there hippie? It could have waited until you crossed the finish line.
I know what you saying to mac II. I went out bashing one day with brother. Looked as if i worked on the truck more than anything. I kept breaking. I have good news though. The battery pack lasted about all day.

rchippie 09.12.2005 02:00 PM

I think i was in 4th or 5th place.

Serum 09.12.2005 02:42 PM

@dafni, i too heard many good things about those molded foams..

@ hippie, i saw some tracks forbid the komodo CF type of tires.. Why is that?

rchippie 09.12.2005 05:01 PM

Hi serum whats up

There banned at alot of tracks because they are considered a LOW PROFILE cheater tire. The tire was invented so the buggy guys could put the tmaxx rim on there buggy & say it has a monster truck rim, so its a monster truck. The tmaxx rim & buggy rim are the same height the only difference is the maxx rim is twice ad wide so the buggy guys dont have to change there gearing big advantage. They are allowed in UNLIMITED MONSTER TRUCK or OUTLAW MONSTER TRUCK at most tracks. Its not true to scale in most peoples opinion.

starscream 09.12.2005 09:28 PM

Most of the competitive guys at my local track are running the proline Crime Fighter MT tires (maxx size tire).
I would like to try a set out with the std offset and see they respond on my Evo.
