Nude Mamba Monster...

Well the one I preordered from CC arrived today. I figured that the first ting people would ask is to see what inside. Couldn't read any of the fets as the heatsink was covering all of them, but I snapped a couple pics just to satisfy the curiosity.

Big sucker... Weighs in just shy of 1/4 pound.

Looks just like the one they displayed at iHobby back in October

Back side of the board. Looks like the brans and BEC to me, but I'm not electronics expert.

Inside the case. You can see the fan is replaceable. Takes a total disassembly of the esc to get to it though. Looks like a standard 25mm computer fan. The fan wire plugs into the bottom of the board at the little white box next to where the Rx wires are soldered on.

Cool! Thanks for that.

Now that is some serious heat sinking!! I can't wait for Mike to get his order in:) Very nice how you can change fans w/ out any de/soldering

lutach 05.07.2008 08:49 PM

It keeps looking better every time I see it.

Looks interesting, I cant wait to get mine from Mike!

Five-oh-joe 05.07.2008 09:03 PM

Wow. That's a big ol' ESC! I counted 36 FETs; they look a little larger than the stock Mamba FETs if that solder hole with the battery wire is any indication. Cool stuff!

Arct1k 05.07.2008 09:05 PM

Funny that it is a brushless fan.... Made in china for those in CA!

Any chance of getting a screenshot of it on castlelink - Interested to confirm what version of firmware it has and what options... thx

What size / voltage are the caps?

Let the mods begin...

Looks like you could eliminate the top cover easily and put a 40mm fan on top instead...

lutach 05.07.2008 09:13 PM

The Monster Max is not big at all. It beats the heck out of my 40.160 size wise.

gixxer 05.07.2008 09:20 PM

thanks, and nice scale. I have the same one and use it for all my stuff.

jhautz 05.07.2008 09:25 PM

The caps are Rubycon 35V 390mfd

Heres a couple pics next to a MM for size comparison.

That wire is just massive... That's a serious looking ESC. Big, but not overly ridiculously big like Lutach's 40.160 (now THAT is a HYOOGE ESC).

Looks like they're using the sidewinder logo on almost everything now too...lol!

Electric Dave 05.07.2008 09:39 PM

Thanks for the photos guys...does castle sell the fan as a separate item? I know I blew through about 5 fans last race year and I'd like to have a backup or two in hand.

big greg 05.07.2008 10:03 PM

you get it and the first thing you do is take it apart!!!! lol thanks man

e-mike 05.07.2008 10:35 PM

Great pictures. Now answer our second question. Video Video Video. I am actually surprised. I really thought it was bigger then that but it's not that bad.
