Brushless Over Drive.

Hi,
Iam purchasing a Duratrax Over Drive. After seeing Brushlessboy16's E-Raze, I wanna do a out runner motor. Iam still new to the brushless world and money not too much of an object. Thank you in advance.

Hey trev, thanks for the acknowledgment!

First off since the Overdrive is a relatively light and small, your going to need a decently capable ESC, do you have any idea what voltage ur gonna run?

trev3813 05.10.2008 03:35 PM

umm i don't know the first clue of this stuff.

brushlessboy16 05.10.2008 03:37 PM

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, U could probably get away with 3s or maybe4s, it u want to be daring, run a good sized outrunner with the mm on 6s!! lol, but yah

trev3813 05.10.2008 03:39 PM

3 s would be the easies. correct?

brushlessboy16 05.10.2008 03:46 PM

3s and 4s are easily doable, if u get higher then that it can be tricky

trev3813 05.10.2008 03:50 PM

ok so battery kinda figured out, what esc motor combo would be good?

lincpimp 05.10.2008 03:58 PM

Is the overdrive 10th scale? Any chance of a link? (I am lazy!)

3s or 4s would be good, but we need the diff ratios and the tires height to advise on a good out runner. The MM esc is most likely the best bet, but an external bec will be needed for 4s. 3s might not be enough voltage, but that depends on the motor!

Stock tires are 3.5'' tall, (lol) Diff gearing is 11/37

it is 1/10th and uses 2.2 wheels and tires.

trev3813 05.10.2008 04:07 PM

wow. thxs ben

brushlessboy16 05.10.2008 04:08 PM

For starters on 4s, you need a 700-800 kv outrunner to get 40mph... so start looking for that, ill help (you need to use something with a 6mm shaft to work with standard OD diff cups)

trev3813 05.10.2008 04:17 PM

ok i'll start there
EDIT: how about this.

not a bad choice but can you find ant motors with a 6mm shaft

trev3813 05.10.2008 04:39 PM

i can't find a 6mm shaft. can any one else? (still lookin)

brushlessboy16 05.10.2008 04:53 PM

Well its possible that u could take any standard steel drive cup for 1/10th scale and bore out the inside to 6mm or as close as possible... it should work
