installed mmm and have a few questions

this is my first brushless setup and im very satisfied with the performance. i have a few questions if you guys can help me with id appreciate it.
1.when the mmm is turned on, every so often the mmm will make a beep, is this normal, and what does the beep mean?
2.most of the time, when i press on the throttle lightly, my car glitches a tiny bit...i believe its called cogging but not sure. is there anyway to fix this...like maybe with the software ..what do i adjust?
3.is there a way to run my lipo and nimh packs without having to link the castle link and changing the lvc to none. like, can i set it to auto lipocut off and it can read when im using lipos or nimh?
4.today i ran it for 15 mins, and then i wanted to charge up the lipos again just to have a full charge. the first battery charged 2365 mah and the second one charged 2485 mah. is this normal? isnt it suppose to be pretty exact since im balancing at the same time..and these batteries are brand new...only second charge. plus im balancing at the same time.
5.do you disharge lipos? ive heard mixed answers on this.
6. is there a throttle control for the throttle percentage on the software? i only see the brake and reverse throttle contol. i just want it at 100 percent...is default set at 100?

I can only answer one question: Are these the A123 cells by any chance? ANY, type of Lithium battery (Li-Po, Li-Ion, Li-Ph, etc.) does not need to be discharged; and in fact, is only using up useful cycle life.

no they are not a123 packs

1. THat is to signal that the battery is plugged in, that is ok and normal
2. The car might cogg a little bit because its at very low rpm, try adding more start power.
3. Since the MMM is designed for 6s, im pretty sure u can use Auto lipo cutoff, but at teh same time u can program using the controller
4. dont know what batts

5. NO DO NOT discharge lipos.

blueb8llz 05.13.2008 06:44 AM

the batteries are 2s 5000 mah lipos frm neu energy.

1. Beeps mean that ESC is turned on, in case if you will forget to turn it off.
2. Sensorless ESC are always bit rough on start, becouse ESC dont know rotor position and try to turn rotor over and sometimes phase signals not right on start and it cogs. More harder to start motor, more it cogs. Mostly its normal but sometimes it shows that you have have some problem if it cogs realy hard.
3. You can run NiMh battery with lipo auto cutoff i think you just dont dump your NiMh packs complitely. Lets say on 4S LiPo cutoff engage on 12V, so same will happends on 12S NiMh that makes 1V per cell. Safe dump on NiMh cell is 0,8V
4. Cant comment much but some differece is normal because i dont belive that you have exact matched cells pack, your pack have different internal resistance. Whats why LiPo's need balance tab to last longer and safely charge or discharge them.
5. I never cycle my lipos but noticed that after couple cycles it gets stronger, getting more amps from them. And yes never discharge lipo lower than 3V per cell, safe dump on lipos 3V/cell

so the cogging cant be fixed with maybe the punch control maybe?
and for running in auto lipo...it says it recognized from 2-3s lipos. im running 2 packs 2s which is 4s..will auto lipo recognize that? and can anyone verify that i will be able to run my nimh packs on auto lipo.

brushlessboy16 05.13.2008 04:30 PM

No, u need to increase start power to reduce cogging..

blueb8llz 05.13.2008 04:35 PM

is that the part where it shows the graph? if so , then i just raise the very beginning of the line then right?

jhautz 05.13.2008 04:41 PM

Yes the monster will recognize the 4s 5s or 6s packs. When it turns on it will beep the number of cells it detects as a saftey for you to doubble check. If you plug in a almost dead 4 cell its possible that it will dect it as only 3 cell. It basically uses the starting voltage to determine the cell count.
