It done blowed up!! What now?

Hacker Master Comp no more! I knew it was going to happen, I just wish it would have held out a bit longer. I was running it with a Feigao 10L and 4s lipos, and it ran about 5min with the 12t pinion I was testing it with and just stopped. I reset the controller and tried again, and two laps around the yard later it stopped again and the smell coming from the truck could only mean one thing -- toast!!

After that it will stutter and shake like it wants to get moving, but then jst stops dead again. Motor did get up to about 160f, but the esc seemed cool with the fan, but I think that just let it cook inside a bit more as the outside cooled. I'm really not sure why it cooked since I put the fan on, unless it was on its way already...

The motor was still running kinda hot even though I geared up 2 teeth, can a failing controller cause the motor to run hotter than it should? Since I did get the motor up to 200f did I ruin it? Seems to run ok.

I was going to order the MGM 12012 but I'm wondering if its' too close to the limit with 4s lipos? Would one of the bigger BK controllers be a better choice? Like the 20120? Would it be beefier enough to justify the extra cost? :P:
Thanks!

9920 and a Nemesis 6XL should do it, eh? :D

Should be smokin' by this weekend! Hopefully this time only the tires will smoke!:L:

Not sure what the 6xl amp rating is. It may be more than the 9920 will want. The 7xl on the other hand seems to work will with the 9920. The 7xl was closer to speed of your 10L. I don't know it that was fast enough for you or not. Should be albe to step the gearing up more with 7xl though. Put either 16-18 tooth pinion on. Sorry for your bad luck.

The hacker controller were known to be "smokey". Frankly, you are lucky to have gotten as much use as you did out of it. The discontinued those controllers quite a while ago because they were failing at a high rate. The motor should be fine, but you should run a fan on it to keep it cooler. A larger motor, like the 7xl would be a better choice for a large, heavy beast as well.
