Using external receiver pack for MMM

hi guys i just got in touch with castle technical support for my Monster Mamba max is dead also same problems no smoke just got dead with no power,I asked him if i can use an external receiver pack for my second monster mamba max ( i bought two)by disabling it's BEC by taking the red wire out just like the disabling my mamba maxx and so far he said that no problems that he heard of for those who done this, any comments on this guys?

rx pack, external bec, either should be fine. I will be using an ubec when I get mine back.

after talking to the technical support from castle,it seems to be the problem are from monster's internal BEC cicuitry ,any one try this way yet using external rx packs without any problems?

I'm hoping they are just fixed when I get mine back.

Edit: I really want to drive my truck again. I have a CC Bec here, someone was saying that they ran a receiver pack and the esc worked again. I am really tempted to give this a try.

So has anyone tried the MMM with the CC BEC (even after is has died)

It worked again but for less than 2 minutes then it quit again. I sent it back to Castle today.

So does this mean that every MMM out there is faulty? & all should be sent back?

If the ESC BEC is dead and you use an external BEC, just treat it like an Opto ESC so that the external BEC powers devices and the brain board.

Final solution for MMM is using external BEC, isn't it?

BrianG 05.13.2008 10:57 PM

It certainly won't hurt. It's just too bad since that is one of the advantages of the MMM...

It worked with an old receiver pack that I had laying around then I disconnected the receiver pack and the Monster worked like it's supposed to for about 2 minutes then it quit again.

Do you think this will work? I didn't think that it was a good idea because the bec in the Monster still put out about 1 volt, like it wasn't completely dead. I didn't want to ruin an external bec or the brain board.

BrianG 05.14.2008 12:51 AM

Unsure. It depends on what is actually wrong with the BEC.
