Need ideas for Mini LST project

I just scored a NIB roller Mini LST with no electrics or tranny. What would be a good project for this one without having too much into it. Budget of maybe $50 not including radio. I don't mind used stuff. Would I be best off getting a tranny or is there another idea?

Could try the first outrunner direct MLST!

That was my 1st thought so lets figure it out and how to make it work.

Is there a outrunner with a shaft going out both ends to put right were the tranny was?

lol.

My best advice for that truck is to go very mild inrunner brushless, or have fun with it as stock. The diffs just aren't up to much more, and you'll end up repairing them constantly. I managed to finally get some decent longevity using the mlst2 diffs, but they still aren't very strong. Mine runs a wraith 7k, quark 33A procar, and 2s LiPo. Very easy to trash even the most perfectly shimmed diffs if I'm not easy on it.

I'm with 83gt on the dif thing. I had one that I tried everything on and the diffs just dont hold up. The metal ring gear viscus difs that losi finally came out with were the best solution, but even with them 3s was a killer for them. A nice mild brushless system is whaqt you need in that thing. anything crazy and you will spend more time rebuilding dif than running.

Just go with the mamba 4600 on 2s and it'll be a funn little truck. Other than the diffs its a great truck.

I have a mlst2, running this motor http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4202

on a old mamba 25, 3s, and It has done fine for probably 10 packs or so, but I am not really a hardcore basher. Needs a center spool or something, pretty much just blows the front tires off. I havn't had any other problems though.

I'm thinking of going direct outrunner brushless or 540 brushed to input shaft on tranny. If it's fast and fun enough I'll upgrade to MIP diffs. What KV would be good with 6-7cell nimh? Also does anyone have a link to a single standard servo conversion for the Mini LST?

The diffs are crap in the mlst, all of them. If I were you I would not waste your time. You will be pissed at it, eventually.

Not encouraging, Maybe I'll just sit on it till I get a good plan.
Anyone have a complete tranny?
