whats everyones opinion on having 2 diff. sets of tires on at the same time
 

currently im running losi zombie maxx on all four sides on my brushless emaxx. they are give good traction vs the stock tires. but my question is, have anyone tried using 2 different sets of tires on their truck at the same time? im thinking of trying the mashers on the rear and keeping the zombies on the front. will this be a bad idea? any suggestions or ideas about this would be much appreciated. if someone actually tried mashers and zombies....how was it?

oh i maybe selling a set of my zombies glued on chrome rpm titans taped with gorilla tape inside tires ...if i decide to get the mashers for the rear. pm me if interested.

Yes I have tried two different brands of tires on one E-Maxx. It all depends on what your goal is as far as traction is concerned. Wheather you want more traction in the front or back or even different traction compounds on the right or left side of your rig. There is no standard in this or right or wrong way to do it. you just have to try things our and see what works for your application. I think most people just get sets because it is easier and it looks uniform on any given vehicle.

yea thats what i was thinking. why not try two of the top favorite tires at the same time right....but someone said its a bad idea because if the two tires are different in diameter or if one is softer in rubber ..etc. will hurt the diffs.
what u guys think about what hes saying?
i really want to try running two different sets, but if this will cause some trouble either with the diffs or anything, i rather not do it..

If you have 4X4 shaft drive then yes you do need to make sure that all 4 of the tires are of the same rotating mass/size so the diffs are working together and not against each other.

im not sure what u mean by 4x4 shaft drive...is the 3905 emaxx a 4x4?

Yes the E-Maxx is a 4X4 and it is shaft drive. So if you think about that when the motors drive the transmission the outpout shaft turns the front and rear diffs at the exact same RPM's. If you have wheels that are different diameters one set will run faster than the other. Thus causing strain on both differential gears that will eventually fail and probably also kill the transmission faster. So whatever wheels you install have to be of the same diameter so the rollout is the same on the front and the rear.

does the emaxx have a center diff?

The truck comes with a two speed tranny, but you can remove it and configure a center diff to it if you like without too much trouble. Many have already done this and with the right setup it seems to work very well. From what I have seen in here the Ofna or the HB center diff can be fit in fairly easy with some modified mounting parts that can be purchased right here on RCM. I just purchased one of the Hot Body center Diffs myself from another guy on here and plan to set it up in one of my projects later this year. It came with a custom mounting plate and two carbon fiber mounts to hold the diff.

That sounds pretty cool. Let us know how that goes, as I'd be interested in doing the same thing.

I have a slipperential V1 equipped Gmaxx, i run crimefighters on front and bowties rear. the crimes are very slightly taller and there is no problems, It corners great and traction for take off is awsome

I prefer matching tires or at least very similar tread pattern, otherwise it looks like u were :drunk: when u mounted the tires:lol:

The bowfighter setup (as called in buggy) is a setup thats used by many racers, not sure how many MT do it though

You can bet that there are some situations where this kind of setup is either helpful or even prefered for traction purposes. Still in some circumstances if you don't match your set of wheels it may be looked at as ghetto. As if you do not have enough money to match up a set of 4 wheels.

yea those two tires that i want are the same size...but im sure itll be off by mm once i stand them side by side. hmm..sounds like this is a bad idea...ill wait for a few more responses till i make decision.
