Feigao 6s and MGM Compro 120 amp esc
high end brushless noob!
k well this is my thread from RCU, so liek my birthday soon, and i was looking at some stuff on rc-monster.com yea that stuff is pretty nuts...the like 500$ esc's and all, thats like 700$ canadian. like whoa. anyways...i want some more speed compared to my ss5800, so pretty much everything, like the cheapest thing would be faster? if i were to buy something there, it would be this esc no doubt about it... the MGM Compro 120 amp, 12 cell brushless car controller, cuz like i dont work and stuff, and the motors are average 70$, so it comes up to 300$ canadian. i would get maybe 200$ on my birthday and if i can sell the ss5800 (Got the box instructions and all ) so that can sell... anways how does the MGM Compro 120 amp, 12 cell brushless car controller and lets say...Feigao brushless motor 540 6s sound? |
Welcome, that sounds like a fast system. But you didn't tell us what you would be using it in. I'm guessing a 10th scale ST or buggy. Anyway, other than the programing that should be a fast system. After figuring out the programing you'll love it.
It would be a fast system, no doubt. But the Feigao 540 6s is not a reccommended motor for really any application. It will suck amps like crazy (shortens runtime), and just plainly isn't a great motor. A Feigao 540 8s on 6 cells will give about the same speed as the SS5800 on 6 cells (if not more), but with more torque. It can be run on 8 cells for extreme speed too!
Shoot, when I geared down to 17/81 on 6cells this my truck got crazy torquey and uncontrollable on 6cell gp3300. I'd love to see it on 7 good cells. Getting some new gears and pinions tomorrow.
You got your problem straight bigair?
I think so, we'll see this afternoon when I get back from this meeting. I am going to get a couple more gears while I am in town too.
ok uh sry, well im going to put this setup in my xxx-s sedan, ill also be buying a gp3700 from www.boomboombatteries.com, so ill have a gp3300 and a gp3700, i dont mind if the runtime is a little lower, cuz like with my ss5800, i only completed drained my battery ONCE, im going to most probably gear it 22/87, i own these pinions, 19t,21t,22t,25t, im going to try the 22 frist, and then try the 25, if it heats up too much then ill go down, again this is going to be for my birthday, (october 8) so i stiill got a long time to wait, and start getting money...i got 40$ so far, only 350 to go. :s
Another choice since you are using a touring car would be to use a Feigao 380 (actually 400) size motor. If you got the 380 6s, you would get tons of speed in a lightweight motor. The advantages to using a 380 motor compared to a 540 motor are:
-Lower overall weight -Lower weight rotor means quicker acceleration -Won't pull as many amps (more runtime) -Still more powerful than a SS5800 motor -Cost ~$60 So, you would save $10 and get an extremely fast motor that would be comparable to a Hacker C40-6t. And you would have plenty of power. Since the amp draw of the motor would be lower, you could probably get away with using a MGM Compro 80amp controller, saving you even more money! The total cost for this extremely fast system would only be $245! That's compared to $290 for a MGm 120amp/Feigao540 6s! |
bah, hacker motors, im guesing thats like the best or something? its all good tho, i dont race, so im not concerned about my cars weight, i just bash with my friends and drag the occasional nitro and tear it apart...=) so yeah! heh...
Even still, this motor will make you very happy.
maybe, but i was thinking about it yesterday, and seeing as how its a smaller motor, i dont think it will fit on my motor mount.....id have to get like a custom one and stuf....blah
I think the 380c version of that motor will not need an adapter plate. Even if you decide not to get the 380 6s, the lehner 5300 is the next best motor for your app. Whatever you do, do not get the 540 6s. I have both the ss5800 and the 540 6s so I know. The 540s is noticeably faster, but acceleration is about the same if not worse than the novak.
any more oppinions? i rly wanted that 6s....shouldnt it accelerate better then the novak? is your car geared right? some guy on rcu, had a 6s, geared it too low, and it didnt accelerate like at all and had poor top speed, then he geared it up 4 teeth and it rips..
The Feigao 380 motors currently need an adapter plate, but there might be a solution for that some time (not sure yet). BK's website carries the Lehner 400-540 mounting plate, which would work with the Feigao 380 motors.
EDIT: Just saw your other post. The 6s will not run well when undergeared. It won't pull enough amps to "wake up". But at the "wake up" point, it is going to pull a lot of amps, and run time will be rather short (compared to other motors, anyways). The 6s won't accelerate like the SS5800 because the SS5800 actually uses a 400 size rotor, which can get spinning to full RPM faster because of less weight in the rotor. |
i see. will the aceleration be like.. ALOT slower? will it be noticeable? oh and would you happen to know how much rpm the 6s has?
