Extend FLM = 1.57" (40mm) longer than stock
XL conversion = 2.16" (55mm) longer than stock

I measured the wheelbase of my FLM forward tranny chassis Savage and got 388mm. HPI says the XL has a 390mm wheelbase. As soon as my LHS gets the XL in I'll set them side by side and take a pic for you.

we have on at work so i well measure it

That is correct, the flm tranny forward conversion is longer than the normal extended TVP's.

drkros3 05.18.2008 10:48 PM

the flm chassis is 15.2 and the xl is 16 inchs.

Here are some pictures of my FLM savage next to a new Savage XL. A couple weeks ago I was at a bash and a guy was there doing a review of the new Savage XL for his website so I was able to do a direct side by side comparison. The XL was just ever so slightly longer, but other than that it really was just bigger looking because of the 7" tall tires it has. But I did get to try the Savage XL body on for size on my FLM Savage and its a perfect fit. If someone is wondering what body fits..... thats it.

Here is the comparison pics.

jhautz what size spur is that. Is it a 52t?

jhautz 05.19.2008 12:23 AM

GPM 51T Delrin. I kept stripping the stock nylon ones and didnt want to go metal.

lincpimp 05.19.2008 12:26 AM

I am in the same boat with spurs. I may try a steel one as I have it, just think that I may need it. I will run the 7.5" cen tires on mine, and think that the spur may take a beating.

The derin is holding up nicely. Very good upgrade from the stocker. Besides... I need a place to run all of my older pinion gears that artent hardened. Most of my trucks are running steel now, but I still have some older non-hardened pinins around that need to get used. This and my revo are the only trucks running plastic spurs that can use them.

Good to know. My stock chassis savage has been doing fine with the stock 49t plastic spur, but I have a feeling the heavier flm with the big wheels will need a better than stock spur.

drkros3 05.19.2008 12:30 AM

where did you get that spure gear?

MTBikerTim 05.19.2008 12:33 AM

I just need a bigger spur then 52t so i can gear down a bit more. I am running 52/18t and I think that is too high but that's all that will fit due to the battery.

jhautz 05.19.2008 12:35 AM

they have a 53T in delrin.
