LRP Sphere and Feigao 8s motor...

I was looking at these two to use together. I wasn't sure if they would because the LRP controller says sensored and the feigao doesnt really say anything about that. If they won't work together, what would be a good controller that would work well with the feigao 8s brushless motor? I am looking for the best all around combo at a decent price. Any suggestions are welcome. Are the MGMs any good? I would also like to keep the battery cell count low, around 7...8 seems to be a little too much weight to me. The guys over at RCU sent me over here to ask, by the way. Thanks. And also, my searches are a little limited because I am in Iraq right now and computer time is valuable.

Tim,

The LRP controller is for sensored motors only, and therefore would not work with the 8s motor. The Reedy neo one motor is an excellent mate to the sphere controller.
For the 8s, the MGM controllers work well. WQelcome to the forums, Tim. Glad you found your way over.

Ok thats what i thought. I just read another post about using a 6s with an mgm 80amp...it said that the 6s will draw way too many amps. i was thinking that the 8s would probably draw the same if not more. right? wrong? now i'm looking at the mgm 80 or the warrior 9920. leaning more towards the mgm because the warrior is sold out here at monster. any other suggestions on controllers around that price range? or would the 80 amp be good for the 8s on 7 cells...thanks for the quick reply.

The the 8s will draw a lot less amps than the 6s. The 8s should run fine on the mgm 8012, which is better for low cell counts than the warrior.

The 8s won't draw as much as the 6s. With the right gearing, the 80 amp will work just fine with the 8s motor. The120 amp will be pretty foolproof for this motor. For less than 8 cells, the warrior will need a receiver pack, which is why the MGM controllers are recommended. If you don't mind a receiver pack, the warrior 9920 controller will work excellent.

ok thanks. i'll get some new gears too. would you suggest getting new boca bearings for the motor? i hear the ones in them arent the best.

You won't notice much performance difference with different bearings, but it woudn't hurt to have better ones. Getting the motor apart to change them may be a challenge, though!

post a detailed walk through if you decide to pull the motors apart to swpa bearings
