convert a t-maxx 2.5 to new e-maxx
what parts will be need to complete the conversion from a t-maxx 2.5 to new e-maxx?
|
That will depend on your budget and what you want out of your truck. I am converting my 2.5 over to BL as we speak. Here's what I did:
1. Changed over stock diffs/cases to hybrid bulks and 1/8 diffs. stock diffs will not hold up to brushless power http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...LM18700&cat=31 2. Got rid of the 2 speed and am putting in a center diff w/ a custom motor mount Mike will be making me. 3. I am using Hot Bodies hardened diffs front and rear http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...GY_DIFF&cat=40 4. FLM extended E-Maxx chassis http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...chassis&cat=31 5. I will be getting the FLM towers as well when money permits. 6. MMM esc 7. Neu motor... 1515 2.5D ....soon If you want any other ideas, just let me know...:lol::lol: Bottom line is that if you want quality, it comes w/ a price. Save up if you have to to do it right the first time |
i was going for the stock e-maxx chassis. so what i am saying is will the new e-maxx chassis mount to the t-maxx front and rear assemblys

it will bolt up, but the transmission is different and the center shafts are different, the steering assembly is different, unless you've upgraded the driveline (knuckles, shafts, diffs etc to 3.3 spec or dog bones) it wont handle anything more than the titans. but the front and rear assemblys are bolt on but not brushless ready, just everything in the middle is different

Better.
Thats why it is better to start from scratch and build a complete project. Maybe using some of the stuff off of your old rig is ok, but with brushless power not much of it will hold up. With the power of a Neu 1515/1y or anything at that level the plastic parts just will not hold up for very long. Most of the T-Maxx and E-Maxx stuff are interchangable for the most part, except for the tranny.
It is nice though to see people making the change from Nitro to BL. Good luck with that and have some fun. |
You'll need the following E-Maxx parts:
chassis tranny motors EVX single speed conversion unless you go with 3905 parts shimmed difs ubec or bec Rx This is just the start epending on what you want in the end |
i will probably just buy a gorilla maxx chassis system. and will wait on the MMM

does http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=015 this looks like a good system for an e-maxx if so like to know how to put another plug on the ESC
thanks, Terry |
That's a good combo;
- if it actully works - if the motor hasn't been abused - if you never plan on running more than a 2 pole motor (BK ESCs don't run anything else) - if you don't mind just about nonexistant support should something go wrong - if you don't mind a lack of any programming options in the ESC. - if you don't mind a lack of LVC for lipos. Either run NiMH only or use an external LVC. Aside from that, the BKs worked well. Pretty much a plug and play system. Oh, and I'd pick up Mike's motor clamp/heatsink to make sure the motor doesn't come apart. |
ok thanks brainG don't know about the ESC would like to have a programmable options. there is another 7xl motor on ebay might just get that and could i run to lipos through a mamba max ESC or would to be to much.
Thanks, terry |
