mbx5t vs a baja 5b?

I am building a mbx5t and had a set-up of racing, with the Neu 1515 1y, 4s pack and the MM. My LHS closed down there track ,and the closest track to me is about 80 miles away. So racing is out of my head right now.
Now How would it be possible for this BL mugen beat a baja? The guy has put a 5.5 HP engine in it, and this other stuff he wont tell me..My thought is it might to 60, if not higher? i have no clue. I saw on RCM that there is a flightpower 6s pack for $300
Would the 1515 1y on 6s work? I want this thing to hit 70+ if possible. I would like the highest quality batteries. I know NEU and castle creations is high quality already, should i go with polyquest or flightpower? the polyquest is 20C constent and 30C max, the flightpower is around 30C constant and 50C max. Would this mean more power? We are going to be drag racing, and it will be long so i need speed and i also need it so this is a reliable system. Also could i tame the 6s power? On the speed control could i set it up so it acts like its on 4s or is that out of the question? I wont want it controlable but i would like pure speed. What do you guys think?

Well the IY motor is 2200KV, so x by 22.2v = 48840rpm which is fine for Neu (60 000rpm max) but don't know how long the MM will last on 6S. May also have to install a wheelie bar :intello:

What do you mean you dont know how long the MM will last? Will i need a UBec? How could i make this not wheelie?...as much?

Well the MM is rated at 6-12 NiCad/NiMH or2-3s LiPo so you are doubling it's limit. You will need to run a BEC, aren't you using a BEC with the 4S?
A Battery Eliminator Circuit is a little device that eliminates the need for a receiver and servo battery pack. It draws higher voltage from the motor batteries and drops it to a voltage level that is suitable for your receiver and servos. This is required in applications which draw high power for multiple servos or use more than 3S motor packs, as most ESCs with linear BECs are not designed for these applications.

a 6s lipo on NEU 1515 1y will be too much for then mamba max you will need the Monster MM for the job, it will go 65 mph on 6 s lipo and you will beat that Baja on acceleration without a sweat:yes:

Gas engines are rally lugish off the line so you have one really good head start

I meant the monster max as the MM, didnt realize i was wrong with abbreviations. i was thinking of putting a BEC on the monster max due to the internal BEC frying? Something that i wont have to worry about. I would want it as durable as possible. I can get 65 mph out of a trug?

Funny thing, My monster max has arrived! i thought it would take awhile but it took 2 weeks from the time of ordering from Impaktrc RC. How long do you think it would take if i ordered a tekno edition NEU 1515 1y from imparkt rc? It says there not guaranteed in stock

I do like their version of the NEUs but it does bother me that they solder on 4mm plugs...at least they could have went with 5.5s

becareful with the plugs you dont want to shorten the leads they are an extension of the motor winds. I would remove the shrink tubing and desolder the plugs...if they dont want to put on larger connectors it would be better to leave them bare

a baja with a nice gas engine is really quick and fast... there are some videos on Youtube of this... but a brushless buggy is still fully capable of beating the Baja, as long as you have the traction..

jzemaxx 05.21.2008 09:29 PM

Yup....I plan to line up against a few gas RC's soon. Video will be taken :). We'll see how the XTM MMT will handle the big scale boys.
