Questions for the top speed feaks!
Time to pick some brains!
Just got hold of a brand new tc3 FT roller. I intend to make it my purpose built top speed car. It will replace my previous car, a tamiya tt-01. I have a feigao 380c 6t motor, MM esc and it did a best of 74mph. Most likely could have got a few more mph with a longer flat area. I also did this with a maxamps 4000 3s lipo, so a better battery would have got me more too. Gearing was maxed out on that car with 55/25. I have a bunch of motors and lipos, so I was wondering what would work well. I can run 2s up to 6s and still fit the lipo in the car. (6s might be too heavy?!) I inted to keep the stock 48p gearing for now. Largest pinion I can find is 35t. And the stock spur is 69t. If I run a motor around 75-80k rpm that gearing should get me near 100mph. What gearing options are available for the tc3? My first motor choice is a hacker b50 5s (7300kv). Going to run it with a MM on a neu 5000 25c 3s lipo. I run a lola body on the tamiya and it seems to provide plenty of downforce, plus it is a 200mm body, so I can leave the wheelwells uncut. It did fine at 74mph, and would fully compress the rear shocks at speed on a breezy day. Any thoughts, ideas, pointers, or whatever will be welcome! |
I had the same setup in my tc3 I went 86mph with a 4s pack geared 72/24 it had more in it but I have very short range with my spectrum radio. The smallest spur I have seen is a 60t.

Any idea where to get the smaller spurs? You had the same motor (feigao or hacker?) as me?

you could make a pinion out of a spur like nic case did
all the pictures seem to be gone, this video was all i found http://www.ganges.com/134_4_mph_RC_C..._Case_v881304/ |

Robinson Racing makes the smaller spurs. I had the feigao 380c 6t.
