Help choosing NEU motor for my HB Lightning GT10 brushless conversion?
 

I am going to be converting a Hot Bodies Lightning GT10 to brushless and I want to buy a Neu motor to use with my conversion. I want to get ether a Neu 1509/1.5D motor or a Neu 1512/1D motor, I plan on using this motor with my Mamba Max ESC with a Trackpower 5400mah 3 cell lipo. Which one do you guys think is better and why? Thanks for the help.

The 1509 will most likely be fine. I run my LS10 with a variety of motors, and anything about the size of a L can works fine. The 1509 will make plenty of power, the 1512 may be a bit much. Plus the kv is a bit high, you could get away with a lower kv, like 3500-4000kv.

More power I always say.. my vote is for the 1512 1d.

In that case, a 1515 will fit, and I am sure that a 1521 will too. That would be plenty of power!

I'm now thinking of buying the Neu 1512/1D motor but do you guys think that would work OK with the Mamba max speed control with a TrakPower 3 cell 11.1v lipo battery? Or do you guys think their would be a cogging issue? Also what do you guys think about the Feigao 540 6L motor? Have any of you guys used the Feigao 540 6L motor? Thanks.

The 6L motor runs EXTREMELY hot. I would not recommend it for a truck like the GT10. With the new software on the MM, there should be very little, if any cogging on start ups.

Actually the Neu 1512.1d is being used by quite a few of the buggy guys, you really cant go wrong with Neu..

3s is ok, 4s is ideal (personnel opinion) you’ll be able to hang with the Nitro brothers and get 30+ runtimes with the right mAH lipo.. You should / need to measure the clearance you have once the battery holder is installed to the bottom of you body; again most Buggy guys are running 4s. I'm going to be running 5s on mine but I’ll probably need to shim the body 1 to 2mm for it to fit.

Just spend some quality time in the buggy threads reviewing other team members posts, feel free to ask any and all questions, you’ll find that 99.9 percent of the guys on there are extremely knowledgeable and are absolutely willing to discuss their builds with you..
