Help choosing NEU motor for my HB Lightning GT10 brushless conversion?
 

I am going to be converting a Hot Bodies Lightning GT10 to brushless and I want to buy a Neu motor to use with my conversion. I want to get ether a Neu 1509/1.5D motor or a Neu 1512/1D motor, I plan on using this motor with my Mamba Max ESC with a Trackpower 5400mah 3 cell lipo. Which one do you guys think is better and why? Thanks for the help.

I am not that familiar with the GT10 but I believe it is comparable to a Rustler, a while back I was thinking of going with a 1509/1y (3600kv) or a 1509/2d (3300kv) on 4s but I stayed with the Feigao 9L...I think the 1512 would be too much motor

the GT10 is a Lightning stadium 10 with max size wheels, 8 shocks and a bigger nitro motor, a 9l feagio on 3s is MORE than enough to keep you entertained and has to be tuned down for the track. i would say go with the 1509, your truck should weigh about 6 puonds rtr due to the larger tires and extra 4 shocks, while my ls10 barely touchs 5 pounds. the 1.5d is too high a kv motor, youll want a 2700 kv or so motor if you wana to beable to get to gearing to an acceptable range, im not sure which nue motor this is but hopefully someone else will chime in on that casue i dunno

do you plan on using mikes motor mount? youd want the one for the lightning stadium 10, its a direct fit.

you should really enjoy it, gear it for 40mph and you should have ATLEAST 45minutes of runtime, and please post some pics

1509/2.5d is 2700 kv which is the same kv as a Feigao 9L

I already bought Mikes motor mount for the LS 10, I also bought some mod1 pinions in 10t, 12t and 14t. Do you think those are good sizes for this truck? I will post some pics when I'm done.

yes you prolly wont need the 10tooth but i would go with the 12 startingout and then go up to the 14 and see how it does tempature wise.
