Mailman brought presents today

Gonna be using these in a high power Savage. Only thing I'm worried about now is the ability for my Deans plugs to keep up! These will put out over 150 amps continuous.

I think I'll switch to 6.5mm bullets. Gotta change all of my collection now though.

Those packs look good. How many cells are they? I'm interested in seeing how go.

pb4ugo 05.24.2008 11:37 PM

They're 5s packs. I'll be running 5s2p for a total of 10600 Mah and 320 amps continuous discharge potential!

elite lipo pack...how good they are???this pack are great for a hi voltage set-up

Patrick 05.25.2008 01:36 AM

That's going to be some pretty good runtime and power.
They are pretty long packs, but because of that they also sit really low to help cog down, which is one reason I'm interested in them.

NICE............ your lucky bastard.. Please update us on how you like the lipo's.. I've been looking / thinking about getting those but I don’t have your kind of money.. is that a duel charger??

Very cool, and I'm very jealous..

have a great weekend..

Shaun.

so you are going to wire them in parallel?

DRIFT_BUGGY 05.25.2008 02:27 AM

Lucky you. Have you used those lipos before?

That's exactly why I got them. We're doing all these large scale conversions, yet trying to stay close to standard form factor batteries? These will be my standard for large scale now. One down the side of my CRT, and two on opposing sides of my Savage.

Yes. I think the difference in effeciency between a 10s1p setup and 5s2p at this point would be minimal. 5s controllers can be had a lot cheaper and with US support than 10s controllers. Mind you I insist on controller brakes.

pb4ugo 05.25.2008 12:51 PM

I haven't used them yet. My lame LHS doesn't have any bullets larger than 3mm, so I can't wire them up anyways. Plus, I don't want to have to install my MGM when my MMM should be here this week (thanks Mothman!).

In my application though, I'm not going to be getting close to 30c. These should live a nice long life as a result.

Almost missed that. Yes it's the Hyperion duo. Each port will charge and balance up to 6s lipo with up to 180 watts of power. It can do this simultaneously for a total of 360 watts. It can charge two different batteries at once (like lipo on one port, and A123 on the other) or you can sync the two ports together to charge 2 6s packs to form one 12s pack (or any combination as long as they're the same capacity i.e. a 3s 4200 pack with a 4s 4200 pack as a 7s 4200).

BTW, you've spent alot more on the Gorrilla build or even on the X-Ray than I have on these.:)

than you will have no increase in power you will double the capicity, unless your goal is to be able to run twice as long without changing packs you will have a lot of extra weight with no increase in power and that will increase your power usage

just my .02

pb4ugo 05.25.2008 02:05 PM

But the motor drawing 150 amps on 5s (slightly under 15c) will put out the same power as the motor drawing 75 amps on 10s (same load on batteries).

I know there are minor benefits to be gained in efficiency (and therefore power) in the 10s situation. It just doesn't pencil out for me as being worth the money. Most of us need to figure out ways to control all the power we have anyways.
