Another odd AXI question

Hey Guys!

This is another question about my AXI 5345 in my E-bike.

I have been pulling over 4000 watts from it in the bike and I have heard a disturbing sound a couple times. I am wondering if it is possibly the motor shaft slipping in its press fit junction at the end of the motor can.

So, AXI experts, any thoughts?

The shaft presses through a steel rear plate. If that is the problem, I can MIG weld the shaft to that plate (simple enough) like welding a press fit crankshaft.

Thoughts?

i would say u can, just do whatever u can to keep the bell balanced.. and incase u didnt not (no offense) make small tack welds to keep from warping

press it out and see if it spun. If it has it will probably need to be replaced or welded in place.

The shaft is really presseed in place TIGHT! So, I cannot tell if it spun or not.

I think I will weld it just to make sure.

The weld will be at the rear tip of the shaft where it passes through the rear plate.

I will grind a notch in the plate and shaft tip, then fill that notch with weld and quench it to cool the shaft and prevent any heat related bearing damage.
