C Cells???
I was wondering if its okay to use C cell packs? Thye reach up to 4500mah but they sell at 1/2 the price of gp3700. Also, they are not much bigger then sub C. U think it would be a good idea?
Could you link us to where these are available?
My understanding is that they can't handle the amp draw of high power r/c applications.
I think he brought it from www.finedesignrc.com/cars.asp
and probably not. |
Them C cells are cheap at FDM now.. They have really high discharge rate also.. I was thinking of using them.. but they're heavy and only 3000 Mah, and They're NiCAD...
I was even thinking of buying the maglite charger batteries.. D cells.. but I think They're Hi Discharge also... but then again. I want to keep my truck under 20lbs... |
so C is a bad idea. Just wondering. What if i use D cells? lol, j/p.
Well it depends on the quality, many "C" cells will do just fine. "D" cells have been used in the original Clod Buster and are pretty cool. I'd like to test them soon.
The c cells are heavier and larger, so they wouldn't fit quite right, but there are c cells that can handle the amp draw and deliver the power. The advantage is of course price, but the weight and mounting snafu makes them not worth it IMO.
I seen some d cells with 9000mah. That would be some serious run time. But the weight is no good.
I had a friend that put some 10,000 mAh D's in his 6x6 Pede, said they worked great with three 550 Johnson motors and never even got warm. He did also mention that he put three wires in place of a single one to each motor and throughout the electronics, that probably helped.
Just stick to the lipos, everyone and dont go astray. C cells is a baaad idea.
there are even 11000mah D cells.. but they're not good for high discharge, and the weight is rediculous....
more weight, more damage when you bump into something.. .plus it makes hard landings on some nice jumps... |
wow, i never knew they had that high. True, teh weight woudl be insane but so wouild the run time. THeres tons of positvie but tons of negatives too. I think C cells would be a good area in between. Of course you'll need a custom bat tray which dont really matter to me if im gunna build a cusomt revo (HOPEFULLY WITHIN THE NEXT 3 years if i can find a esc! lol). Ebay item # 5808086194. I dunno if they can take teh large amp draw but i expect the ones taht can would be around that price range. i checked out the size.
C cell 6 pack 6inchx1.75inch Sub C packs 5.5 inchx1.5 inches ALso, the weight (didint know if scale was in grams or lbs) the c cels was about 1/10th heavier then the sub c. Doesnt seem like much of a differenc. about 2000mah more vs a little big bigger with a little bit more weight. I go for teh C cells! lol, problem is, can you charge it with a regular charger? Who decided to use SUB C cells as teh universall batteries for 1/10th scale anywayz?!? |
lol, no1 knows!
You can use it with a regular charger. I use my 18MT pack on my Pirahna charger all the time. I'll definately have to test "C" cells though, just to give you guys a review. :)
