charger info.
Is this the best hyperion charger i can get. Thanks for any info on this Hyperion EOS1210i Charger Details
NEW! Hyperion EOS 1210i 12S 30N CHARGER, with Terminal Capacity Selection and Speed 2C Charge Rate! Price: $169.99 168.12 CAD | 85.91 GBP | 107.86 EUR |
I have the 0610i and very happy with it your choice will depend on what you need
|
It depends on if you are going to charge greated than 6s.
I was looking into the 1210 because it is a great price. Remember you would still need to buy the balanacer, where as if you went with the 0610 the balancer is built in. Additionally, the 1210 maxes out at 180 watts while the 0610 can charge at 250 watts (at 12s you could only charge at ~4Amps). If you will be running more then 6s, then yes, this is a great charger (not many options). If you are charging at 6s, then the 0610 might be better (depends on how much current you want to charge with). If you are charging less then 6s, both chargers can charge at the same rate, just need to decided whether you want a built in blanacer or not. |
if you want to go more than 6s I would run dual packs than and buy the 0610 duo, which has 2 sets of output jack and balancers. The 1210 charger based on the 180 watt number and allowing 20% for effiencicy you still could only charge a 6s @ 6 amps and this is the max you could do and as you go up in cells it will get worse, when I was looking for a charger the max wattage the 1210 could do scared me away from it more than not having a balancer

i cant decide between the 0610i ($158 delivered here): http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...rger&cda=17832)
and the icharger 106B (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...rger&cda=17832) the balancer is highly accurate, but has no firmware updates and customer service is better than ive ever seen anywhere) which is $95 delivered. from the reviews, its over 93% efficient which is awesome... ive got a watt meter coming so i will test which ever charger i end up getting... saving $60 is pretty good, for a charger which will only be used for charging 4s a123 @ 10A... which both can do. even if i do get a 5s lipo (which wont really ever happen anyway) i would only charge it at 1C |
Same link for both things :) And I'm surprised to hear someone thinks HC customer service is better than anywhere, I've had the exact opposite experience, and just figured that the massive discounted prices are possible because of they're terrible customer service... Looks like an alright charger though, though I remember reading (before it had been tested by the market) the iMax B8 was meant to have ultra accurate balancing as well lol, lets hope they got it right this time.

no, i meant the guys making the charger were very helpful (look on rc groups) and are constantly changing and updating it. i think its worth the extra cash saved to wait for this. only challenge is getting the balance adaptors, which is difficult as the a123 racing packs are stupid, and have to be rewired anyway...
|
I have only owned Hyperion chargers never had a problem with any of them, are easy to operate, adapters and other accs are easy to find
|
Make your own a123 packs and wire them with any plug you want.

I just got the Hyperion Duo the other day and love it. Have not charged/balanced any lipos yet but did test it out. Much easier to operate then my super brain. I do have a superbrain 989 for sale if you are interested. Would have to sell it without the power supply though.

Hey tc3, did you ever get the iCharger 106B?
How is it? Does it need adapters to balance PQ/Hyperion taps? |
