CRT .5 questions
I am ready to convert my CRT.5 to electric, I need some info.
My plan is to use the chassis conversion by Mike (RC-Monster) with a lehner basic xl 1200/quark 80 car esc and 5s 2500 mah flightpower 25c pack. I may also do the arm conversion when available, to convert to a 1/10 truggy. My questions are about the weight of the conversions. How much do they weigh? I know my nitro .5 is 3 ounces heavier than my 1/10 ST (T4). I know my battery weighs 370 grams, and the chassis will add weight. I'm just wondering how the added weight will affect performance? I plan to run a lehner basic 1200xl w/5mm shaft conversion at first, but might need to go to a neu motor if this is too much for the lehner. thanks for any info given |
Mine weighs from 1900 to 2100+g depending on tires and battery. I also use a 2500 batt, but in 3 and 4s. The 4S 2500 starts to get pretty heavy IMO depending on what you are doing. I understand why you want 5S w/ that 1200kv lehner, but I'd say its a bit heavy if you take it to the track. OTOH I was trying to keep it 1/12th scale. You will def need to think about better shocks w/ your setup.
MY CRT conversion |
I'm curious why you would like to go 5s. To me that seems like it would be way too much power to use on a track (although you would get awesome runtimes on 5s 2500). I'm running 3s 4000mah 20C on a Feigao 9L, and geared at 45mph my CRT.5 accelerates FAST and is just awesome. Temps are incredible too, 140 deg. on motor (yes, a Feigao!) and Mamba Max ESC, and ~100 deg. on the battery. I have yet to weigh my truck, but I'm sure it is heavier than most due to the battery, motor, and custom chassis.
Also, as Finnster pointed out, better shocks are are requirement for the 1/10 CRT.5. The nitro guys use Ofna DM-1 shocks in the front and 1/8 buggy fronts in the rear. I have had excellent results with Jato front shocks (there's a thread about them) and Jammin' front buggy shocks on the rear. I just need to work on tuning them. |

I got one more question. What diff oil setup do you run in your e-crt.5's?
|
I am still awaiting my MMM to run in my CRT.5 (will be running 4s) so I still haven't tested it yet, but I plan on trying out the stock oil in the front and back and 5K oil in the center and see how that does. But I am curious as well, what oil people are using for the front and back for general bashing...
|
I'm using 5/7/3 (front to back) right now.
|
Is it working well for general bashing rschoi... like on asphalt, grass, sand, etc? I think I may try the same set up as you.
|
I ran 10K in the center, and then what ever the manual said for front/rear
Worked awesome for bashing |
yeah I think it works well for all around bashing. The front doesn't unload too much unless I'm on grass or some other high traction surface. 10K in the center could be good as well.
|
I liked 10K better, but I was running 2.2 truck tires, while jnev is running the buggy tires... So thats a big difference
|
I initially used 1/3/1 or 3/3/1 (can't remember which.)
The center was way too light, tho I'd still wheelie. 10K is in now and seems great. I need to redo the F and R, thinking of 5/10/1(or 2) buggy tires btw, and ofna ext chassis |
I've been running 10K in the center for both buggy and truck wheels and it works great.
I did the stock in the front rear - think it was 3/1. I think the front could use a little stiffening up, so will be trying 5K when I get some time to change it out. |
