need diff grease/oil help on FLM bulks
 

found a set on FLM combo bulks on ebay, put in my stock diffs and went through my 3rd set this weekend. ordered the aluminum diff cups from here on sat. and waiting for them to arrive.
DickyT has helped me out alot so far, but he doesnt have an eMaxx anymore and i want to make sure he is giving me the best advice. (he hasnt failed me yet)

what diff grease and diff housing lub should i use? he is saying 30k should do me good. i am a novice BL guy and havent been comfortable with driving through a set of batts without breaking something that i need to upgrade anyways. i got a set of 7 cell 4600 SPC's and havent went through a full charge of them yet. lol. kinda sucks. i break a diff or every time.

so whats this OFNA Green Stuff he was talking about? is 30k the best bet for me? i am on the road mostly unless he comes up and we go to a field somewhere to bash. i have road rage tires on, 4 red springs and 4 blue springs on big bore shocks. suspension is all the way out, low as possible. love it so far. but changing and adding these diff cups and grease will greatly change the handling. thats what i read.

I assume you are talking about the FLM combos that combine the bulkhead and 1/8 scale diff housing together. I have the same setup on my E-Maxx with FLM chassis. I use Hotbodies Lightning diff gears from this web site (but I've had problems with them). I don't use any diff grease. I just use a light coat of lithium grease just for lubrication.

My problem is that I've had to go in and clean them several times because they get sticky. The outdrives/drive cups should rotate smoothly when turning one wheel while the other spinss in the opposite direction. It appears the plastic housing that attaches to the big diff gear and holds the little gears wears and sheds. The little black debris collects inside the diff housing. That has been my experience. I don't know what to do...I was thinking about trying some OFNA diffs.

I've used 7,000 in the front & 5,000 in the rears of my GorillaMaxx and FLM emaxx builds and it been a great combination so far. Whatever you do you will want heavier oil in the front then in the rears. As the trans area I’ve always used just synthetic grease, the new thing out at this moment is Gorilla Snawt

What diffs are you using, 3906 or 3905? The 3905 can handle diff oil and you might want to experiment with different weights. Just remember to have a heavier weight diff oil in the front diff than the rear. I had been using 3K rear and 5K front.
