Your opinions...

First off, this is rustlerboi1052 on all other forums BTW...
Been doing alot of research on my MBX5-T electric conversion and I don't feel like waiting another 2 months for my MMM. It seems like there are still bugs in the MMM to work out, and i'd just hate to keep waiting. This has been on my mind for awhile now already.

Anyways I was thinking about running a MM speedo with the castle BEC instead. I'd be only running 4S lipos with...i'm not sure what motor yet. Is the performance good with the MM and the 4S, or will it burn up most likely? And what modifications do you do to the speedo in order to attain the capabilities of running a 4S lipo without burning up? I'm just bashing for now, but there is a possiblity I will race this setup.

Also, what decent motor do you guys suggest that will run very well with a
4S lipo? I want something with power like the Neus, but not that expensive. My budget isn't anywhere NEAR that of a Neu, although I'd kill to have one.

Just want your opinions on everything.

Thanks in advance,

steve

i believe everyone is liking the medusa 60mm motors they are twice as expensive as a feiago xl but only half the price of the neu and are inbetween in performance also.

azjc 06.03.2008 09:14 PM

if you are having budget constraints I would go with a L can feigao I get good results with a 9L and MM ESC in a Rustler

dirt101 06.03.2008 09:21 PM

I wouldnt use an L can, you will see severe overheating

Steve Krug 06.03.2008 09:30 PM

I've heard about the Medusa's, somebody told me the 60mm motor will be slightly small for a truggy, and will heat up also...And the highest KV rated motor for the Medusa 60mm is 2000kv, which I would think would be slow on a 4S lipo...

Steve Krug 06.03.2008 09:32 PM

Whooops, also, anybody by chance have and used gear they can sell for cheap? I'm a HS student just so you know that I can't afford much LOL.

oh..its a truggy I thought it was a buggy I would go with a 8XL than just under 2100kv..avg price for one is $80

If it were the MBX5 (Buggy), the 9L would be a decent choice on a budget. While it will run a little warmer than an XL can setup, it still performs well on 4S. I've run a 9L for a bit in my MBX5 with good results.

i have a heatsink/clamp for xl series motors i will give you

i have ran 4s and 5s in my mm and it does very well, 4s for track use should be fine with a 8xl

the mm "should be fine" but as with any component check temps and gear accordingly

Steve Krug 06.03.2008 10:30 PM

I may put my order in now...

Feigao/Nemesis/Wanderer "XL" Brushless Motor $80.00 $80.00

entjoles,
Seriously??!?! That would be so incredibly awesomely awesome. You can't imagine how much that'd help. I see you live in MN? Where you located? I'm in SW Minneapolis lol.

BlackedOutREVO 06.03.2008 11:03 PM

Good to see you over here man!

Sounds like a good list, you can always swap to something nicer if needed, but still BL is way better then nitro! Haha

Steve Krug 06.03.2008 11:05 PM

Welcome Steve! You may want to try emailing or calling TrueRC. Often times, they don't have time to update the webpage once they restock their stuff...
